PostSubject: Using Sim Photographs in your ID : BE WARNED   Sat Mar 17, 2012 11:45 am

If you want to use photographs in your build that are taken by your Sims you can gain a lot of versatility in your artwork.

BE WARNED though.

If you do include photographs in your build this is what will happen.

This build was exported with Sim taken photographs. As you can see, the build shows as an object instead of as a Sims 3 Package. The item showing is a 'TreeOakSmall'. There is not a small oak tree on the lot, however, there is one in one of the photographs.

I went into the build and removed all of the Sim taken photographs and exported it again. This is what I saw in Custard. As you can see, all is now as it should be.

The objects that attach to the export can be removed with s3pe Package Editor. I do not know anything technical about this program. I use it to look at the 'ICON' to see what packages are before I delete them. It can also be used to remove the 'OBJD' files from the library version before export. You can take the file back to being a Sims 3 Package instead of an object.

The files in blue are the ones you can remove. Removing them has no affect other than to remove the items from the first line when shown in Custard. The photographs still go with the build. However, if the person on the other end tries to export that same build, the 'objects' will return.

If anyone has any further technical information regarding s3pe that can help explain this better, please post here.

Very good information that I do not totally understand as too tired to be reading this now. I understand the part where having the pics messes up the export to show as an object instead of a lot package. But what is odd is that after removing them that there is the wording that there are no pics. If they are not included why is there a reference to them at all?

I know from other tests that lots do hold memories of what was in them even if content was removed, so this must be the case here.

When you install a lot that has sim pics, do they show up as individual items in the dc backup? I have never looked into this at all before. I also wonder where those images are in the game files and if perhaps they can be converted to standard CC that could be included in the builds.

That's quite a find, Merry! Thanks for the information. I will not be using Sim taken photographs in my builds. Smile I'm assuming their paintings don't do that.

The wording that says there are NO pics is my wording. It was placed on the lot where I had physically gone in and removed all of the photos. You have to make the change in the 'library' with S3pe not on the Sim3pack file. I placed it in my library twice and exported it twice and changed the wording so I would know which one was which.

I am aware of that and you can remove the items from your DCBackup folder to avoid this.

In my case, if there were 'standard CC', I would remove them. This way they stay with the build but don't scare anyone who uses Custard on the build.

If I didn't know it was the photographs and I did a Custard on the lot I would not download it because of the first line saying it was an object. I'm guessing that there are other Simmers out there who might feel the same way and be scared away.

I could test out that theory. I have a house right now with Sim paintings in it.
