Quoted from the EA Blog Post
We're excited to let you know The Sims™️ turns eighteen years old today! It's an accomplishment for us as creators, but more importantly, it's an enormous testament to the passion of our community. We’ve been able to make these games for so long thanks to your quirky movies, rich and detailed custom skins, inventive and bizarre mods, and the awesome stories you tell.

Over the years, we’ve asked the hard questions about life, like: “Do Sims pee too often?” and “Why might a satellite fall from space and land on a Sim?” At times, we've had to dig a little deeper into introspective topics like whether plants should have udders or not. (The answer is yes, some should.)

We've built lots of stories and memories over the years. And I’ll never forget the bug on The Sims 2 Open for Business that let Sims sell babies. Don’t worry, it didn’t ship that way! This is a wonderful job filled with strange moments, and it’s such a joy to share tidbits with all of you.

The Sims 4 on Console

Even though we’re eighteen, and hopefully past our teenage angst, it doesn’t mean we’re going to sit still. The Sims 4 is now on console, which means you can play with our little digital people from the comfort of your couch. In addition to the base game, there are several great packs to experience, including a personal favorite of mine, The Sims 4 City Living*. Oh, and don't forget about The Sims 4 Romantic Garden Stuff*, coming February 6th to Xbox One and PlayStation 4! In case you were wondering, we aren't stopping just at console. Soon you'll be able to take your Sims everywhere with The Sims Mobile.

iOS Stickers and Threadless

We’re also celebrating with a few gifts from us to you. First up, we've got stickers! Starting February 6th, use these fun and vibrant iOS stickers in iMessage, inspired by The Sims 4 and The Sims Mobile games. Express your love for The Sims by sharing unique thought bubbles and creative icons. Want to sport some The Sims merch? We will be adding a few new designs to the Threadless store starting on February 6th for you to rock your The Sims pride!

Giveaways and Contests

Our community is so clever, witty, and at times, incredibly dark — and we love it! We are so excited for the opportunity to see you showcase your skills by participating in our caption contest. We're giving away two custom XBox One controllers (as in... Plumbobs everywhere!!!) so don't miss your chance to join in on The Sims Anniversary fun. Hit us with a caption that will make us laugh and you could win! You can find the Official Rules here.

Sales

The final surprise we wanted to share is that the game is on sale! We want to show our love and appreciation to our loyal community by getting 75% off The Sims 4 on Origin. Just make sure you take advantage of this deal before February 8, 10 a.m. PST.

We’re so thankful all of you have stuck with us to make The Sims a truly special, one-of-a-kind game. We have so many great things planned this year, so stay tuned, and happy Simming!

BloonS BaloonHeart It's been a long run. And lots of fun along the way. I think I've played Sims 17 1/2 years of the 18 years but I didn't discover the Sims forums until TS2 and then I was too shy and wary for awhile.

"EuphorialQueen" was born at the time of the first Sims forum. It was nothing like the forums today.
Very bare bones format and I do not recall being able to share creations. I was more active on the Sims 2 and three forums. Playtime was limited due to El'Cheapo computer and limited internet. A lot of the Sims 1 & 2 packs were second hand from eBay and local Game Retailers. By June 2, 2009 I became a completionist and had to own them all.
Embarrassed (just a bit) to admit I owned the entire Sims 3 store.  Whistle

FYI: Release dates
Sims 1 February 2000
Sims 2 September 14, 2004
Sims 3 June 2, 2009
Sims 4 September 2, 2014

I owned almost the whole store. I never bought the last set. I won some of the items through contests. Sadly I could not play the sims 3 very well. It lagged and froze too often. I could build though and that's what I did the most. I even created a whole world in CAW!

I had every sims 2 pack...loved that game I was a story teller in it and even did some roll playing on a forum I found.

I played the life out of sims 1 when I discovered it.

I didn't start playing until Sims 3. I was immediately hooked. I admit I owned the entire Sims 3 store, except for the last set. It's all still installed on my laptop. Can't bring my self to uninstall it yet. Spinning

lol, BG, I had all the Sims store and still miss playing with the stuff. It was just so clever! Sigh. I loved all the Sims and had all the collections. Tried to go back to TS2 a few years ago but couldn't adjust to the building differences. TS3 is not as fun without all the worlds and at least some of the 'stuff' which I can't get back into the game.( I think it's deliberate. )
Has anyone noticed that the Xfinity ad plays a popular tune that the Sims game ( not sure which one ) played when loading?
