Valeda has been in the gallery of ages and has only base game content. She survived on her own by gardening and collecting. She also became the Matriarch of Highlander Crest Challenge by @Buttonsginger

Valeda had survived many hardships in her short life so far. Rumors of a world wide cataclysmic event had been circulating for decades. Her parents did what they could to try to protect the family but it just was not enough. The sirens were blaring loudly that day but many mistook them as being yet another test. It was too late when the realization dawned that this was the real thing. The attacks were brutal and the underground shelters quickly became crowded by many who had not been ready. The structures above were impacted by direct hits causing some shelters to collapse. Many were lost that day including Valeda's parents, siblings and friends. Finally it seemed to be over ... for now at least and the survivors began to venture out to start to build the world anew.
Valeda walked for what seemed like forever. Scavenging what she could and trying to avoid the looters and savage gangs. Finally she came across what appeared to be an abandoned campsite. Making certain the original owners were no longer there she began to settle in and make herself at home.

No worries. My Rosebud saves always go the first week with Zero Simoleons. It keeps them from spend funds on the grills and mixed drinks. The starter lot has a Street Table that can be used to sell things similar to a garage sale or flea market. Valeda is collecting things to sell at a mark up. There is "No electricity and no water" and paying bills is optional in this challenge. A 'potty bush' is provided along with a tent and cooler. One of the goals is to travel to Granite Falls and learn how to make a Deodorizer Cream (Herbalism Skill) for hygiene purposes. Valeda hates me right now for keeping her from getting a nice Brisk Shower (the only type allowed) and having to pee in a bush.

Wow! What a challenge Surprised  How is it going so far?? Sounds really complicated. Not sure I could keep it all straight.

Valeda staked her claim on the vacant lot in what her new neighbors said was the Burner Faction of Murkland. Murkland ... what a funny name but after exploring a bit it certainly did fit.
Her neighbors certainly were ... erm ... interesting.
The dark lord looking dude introduced himself as Mad Mud and proclaimed himself the proprietor of the only place to dine. It was called the Puffer Dome and was notoriously famous for Puffer Fish (aren't those deadly?) a local delicacy.

Hello I am Valeda
My nearest neighbors, the Freegan Clan, were the first to welcome me to Murkland. They are a fun loving group and great supporters of Mother Earth. Veegan introduced himself first and invited me to admire the beautiful clouds. Ummm even though vehicles are scarce to nonexistent the middle of the road is certainly not a good place to study the sky.




Veegan very kindly invited me to the hot springs. He ... I mean they ... the hot springs certainly are hot and steamy.


Our next stop was the Puffer Dome which turned out to be quite ... eventful.
Word is the food here is "to die for" but this is a bit much.
Certainly hope this was not intended for me.

As water is in short supply there is no working plumbing on most of the lots. The Salamander Clan took control of all the rights to water, supplies and most of the prime land. They own Murkland Mercantile Co and charge well over top dollar for everything. The Freegans are teaching me how to grow food from trash. My first crop was a disaster and I had to start all over from scratch. Here goes nothing .... bleh ... rather bland but it will do .. I guess.
Luckily the Murkland Merchantile has provided a cooler for canned water and juice and some dry cereal.
Nothing is free and even after an apocalypse there are bills to pay *sigh*

The rules are quite clear regarding trash plants but in my blind haste Whistle I did not read them carefully. Trash plants appear when piles of trash are left lying on the ground. They ferment to a 'lovely' green pile of festering stank. From that pile a Trash Plant is formed. My plan was to grow one or two trash plants from scratch and evolve them then plant the harvest.
The rules say:
Quote :
Your main task is to grow 16 trash plants from scratch using your own trash to start them. You must grow them all from scratch -- from piles of trash.
You must then evolve all 16 trash plants to the perfect level.
My brain interpreted it as grow 16 Perfect Trash Plants. Kind of skipped the whole part stipulating "You must grow them all from scratch -- from piles of trash". I kept the one original plant and deleted the others. Also deducted the money earned from selling the plants from Valeda's funds.

Now ... back to Murkland and more Trash Plants.

Being without water is no fun especially when the green funk clouds follow you everywhere. YUCK
Very hard to be happy and making friends is not easy when they keep passing out on you.
That down right frowsty odor is definitely off putting. My new friends told me about a special cream made using herbs to keep body odor in check. Problem was the plants were not available locally. I had to travel to Granite Falls and find a hermit to get them. So off I went on the long journey to find Elderberries and Parsley. I had a nice enough visit but had to wait a bit for the plants to be ready for harvesting. Exploring the area and learning about the plants and insects was kind of fun. I love being outdoors and even got in a bit of fishing. I learned that the fish were  contaminated and were not safe to eat but were still valuable. Wonder what the buyers used them for.  Eventually the hermit taught me the recipe to make a deodorizing cream and sent me off with a few plants to eat on my journey home.

I burst out laughing at the part where Valida's friends passed out when she tried talking with them.

Good story. What an unusual challenge. Is Valida's camp site made from scratch? It looked familiar, sort of like part of the Science facility lot.
I did not know trash plants were edible let alone that they could evolve.

There are also original households created by her just for this challenge. I am playing with aging off so I can keep all the cool people in the neighborhood.

Had a plant glitch which I am investigating. I ended up starting with all new trash piles. More on that in a bit.

Ohhhh, that sounds so cool!
Think I would like to have a neighborhood like that. And of course, the challenge sounds very interesting. I am tempted but have a busy month coming up so hesitate to commit in case I don't get playing time. Have managed more Sim playing these past weeks and it's been mostly nice and relaxing.

Well I downloaded the starter house. Just in case. So I need to open a new Oasis Springs and delete all the lots in it?
What is a good way to print out the rules and map? Just copy and paste in e-mail to self?
