PostSubject: Re: From the Back Porch to the Patio 2017 - 2018   Fri May 11, 2018 1:42 pm

The medicine has been wearing off so I'm getting a test procedure the end of this month. I call them a day or two after the procedure was done and they will evaluate whether or not the next step will work. They did not tell me what would happen if I can't have the 'next step'.
Going to grandson's graduation this weekend to see them get their Associate Degrees. They are both going to college this fall in Wisconsin but different schools. Youngest grandson still has the cancer on his liver but it is not growing or spreading from the medicine he is taking.
My daughter-in-law graduated and has her bachelors and has taken the test to be an assessor, and her husband, my youngest, is continuing is getting his bachelors and I'm hoping he will before his work stops the program of their paying for the courses. We don't need anymore bad stuff.
Our church pastor resigned to be a wife and help to her pastor husband. Members are working hard to keep the church going despite a lack of giving.
Seems everyone is having a rough time.
My youngest son is treating the Mothers to brunch after the church service.
Be well everyone!
And Happy Mothers Day to all you Mom's.

Hi dear people. Had the test procedure Thurs and haven't noticed a change in the neck pain and still have headaches which might be caused by steroids if that was in the medicine. Dr mentioned another 'test' procedure and even possibly a 3rd one before the Coolife treatment. Pain has been in lower back and legs , or should say was all last month. It had moved again and seems to be leaving now. The burning was awful every time I stood but usually go away after walking awhile.
Going to have company at the end of the month. Middle son and his girls are coming for a visit. Mostly to eat a Chicago pizza and Sammy's sandwiches and I don't know what else. He's bought a little house but after a month found out the warehouse he worked for was sold to a Fortune 500 company so now we're all concerned about his future. What a bummer!

Saw the Pain Management Doctor yesterday and since I wasn't having any pain I don't need anymore treatments. I still have discomfort at times but an aspirin or other pain reliever usually takes care of that. I'm so relieved. As nice as the medical personal are it just gets tiring to have Dr. visits, etc. Still have the headaches but not as often.
My youngest son and family have been keeping me busy. Last month we went to Union, IL, and rode Thomas train and his train friend, whose name I forget. Spent most of the time wandering around looking at the trains they have. They are restoring older trains. Gosh those things are Big! I remember riding the steam engines ones to MI to visit Grandma ( Mor Mor -not sure of the spelling) for most of the summer.
This month we're going to a sort of Jurassic Park thing at the fairgrounds. It sounds very cool and everyone should like it.

Hi Gram. I am so glad to hear you are feeling better! Pain is so debilitating. Sounds like you and your family had a grand time with Thomas the Train. I remember Thomas and his friends well, my son was really into all things Thomas!

I am keeping pretty busy with work this summer. The new school year started yesterday. 8th grade. I hope the homework is easier than last year. Laughing I can't even start to think of my son going to high school next year.

I am still loving Sims 4. I am still knitting too.

I hope everyone is doing well. Heart

Thanks! It was a good time.
So much better that of course something else had to happen. My gardens have been plagued with tiny black vicious ants whose bite I am allergic to. Had a third this summer encounter with them the other day and wow was I miserable from it. Ankles got the worst if it but wrist only got one bad bite that swelled up. I was researching treatment for the bits and decided to come visit. Good to see you all! So next project is to get the organic ingredients to get rid of the little beasties. Just about every time I weed ( which isn't all that often) I have a nasty encounter with them. They're even in my large pots of plants!! Having my yard service finish the weeding for the year. I warned them.
Have been enjoying my little grandchildren who aren't so little anymore. Grandson will be 5 and starts preschool this fall. Crying or Very sad And his sister speaks so clearly even I can understand her. She'll be 3 a few months after her brother.
No plans at present to move in with them. Have a lot to do to this place first. Not to mention getting rid of stuff! It's hard. Laughing

Ouch! Have you tried wearing any repellent to keep them at bay? I am so sorry to hear of your bites, they can be so miserable!

I had some bites on my feet that drove me absolutely nuts for several days. Nothing stopped the itch.

Kids grow so fast! I am glad you're getting to spend some time with them.

Good luck with everything you need to do. Getting rid of things can be very difficult.

So nice to see you Gram.  BlowingKiss

My apartment is ground floor and they are forever working on the grounds to keep everything in good order. In spite of that I have had a couple instances of teeny tiny ants. What my Mom would call piss ants. The exterminator called then cement ants (I think). They laid down the tiniest amount of baitto attract them to one spot so they would carry the poison back to the rest. I read to use white vinegar or lemon juice to spray them. They are so tiny you can barely see them in the carpet. The treatments works though.
Being allergic has to made it even worse. Sad
Yeah for kids and grandkids keeping you busy.
Quickest way to get rid of stuff is to have someone else pack and move your things. Suspect
In my case I got the essentials but lost pictures and a few other non-replaceable things.
Not an ideal situation but I did get moved.

Hi Gram. I'm in a second floor apartment and had carpenter ants. The building sent over an exterminator and like EQ they laid down a tiny dab in several spots around the apartment. They were gone very soon.

It is so much fun to have grandchildren that young. They certainly grow up fast. My grandson is now 14. Where did the time go?

I understand purging. I also understand procrastinating. I have a bin of photos in my living room and I think they have been there about a year. I really should go through them. Tomorrow...

I can't believe it's Sept!
BG, can't believe your son is an 8th grader already.

I'm surprised that so many in different states have had trouble with those tiny black ants. Where did they come from? I'm going to go back to soapy( detergent) water but will have to drench the entire yard, not just the gardens. The detergent is suppose to disintegrate their bodies. It worked at my old place but you could tell where the ants were by the small mounds they made. But since I can't tell where they are ( have run-ins with them when weeding) need to saturate everywhere. Will need to do the flower pots too, after they're empty.
Had a great crop of Green Peppers to freeze. !st year for that as I grew them in pots. Also did one tomato plant in a pot but even with fertilizing it got mostly small tomato's. Had one tomato plant left and finally in July stuck it in the garden by the patio. eeek It got as high as 4' possibly more, and I'm getting a lovely crop of nice sized green tomato's. Spent a couple of hours yesterday frying thinly sliced green tomato and freezing a couple of cookie sheets full for during the winter. I just heat them up in the oven until warm. Love them! Had a bunch ( plate full) for lunch. Downside is I'm having trouble getting the smell out of my small house, lol.
Hired the yard service to weed the weed trees that have been growing in my yard and I can dig up. One worker wanted to trim the Blue Spruce up the trunk but I said no, but he could take the very bottom branches off for easier weeding. When I went outside to check on things they were cutting, butchering really, the poor tree. Branches are gone halfway up the 13 year old tree. Looks awful. Stupid men also took out 99% of my beautiful snapdragons. Then I did cry. I'd brought them over from the old place. So, I was looking for seeds on line to start over and found what I need and want at SwallowTail Garden seeds. Unfortunately I'll have to pay for them.

@Gramcrackers I hope the detergent works on your ant problem. Sad to hear about your tree and snapdragons. I'm afraid I wouldn't know a snapdragon if it bit me, but I love to look at beautiful colourful flowers. I'm in an apartment so seldom see many.

My grandson is starting grade 9. He is looking forward to it because he will be able to really start working toward his dream of becoming an astrophysicist. He has wanted that as long as I can remember.

I'm still chugging along with Sims 2. I've managed to take my main town up to generation five. There are 10 houses in the main town and about six each in eight 'suburbs.' The suburbs were created by adding shopping districts to the main town. Then moving the Maxis created townspeople over to a suburb one group at a time. I had to use mods to get all the townspeople into one house so they wouldn't loose their relationships. In Verona alone every Capp and every Monty are related. I managed to marry Romeo and Juliet and that gave me an idea. So there were a lot of Capp/Monty marriages in the first generation. Ha HA I have so much fun going from house to house and playing one day in each and then repeat.

I've also been playing a lot of Minecraft. On the family server we've upgraded to the latest release 1.13.1. The oceans are alive now. So much sea life. And sunken ships and underwater ruins to explore for treasure. The coral reefs are beautiful.

I hope everyone is well. Have a great day!

The oceans in Minecraft sound like Island Paridiso (spelling?) in TS3.
Your grandson sounds wonderfully ambitious, MW.
So glad you're still having fun with TS2. My gosh, The Capps and the Monty's! lol, related! And I bet there are a lot of them. I finally deleted all my saved TS3 stuff and got rid of all The Sims game packs. Even found a book on game play for one of the series. It was so sad.

Choir has started up again, and I'm back line ancing one day a week, and taking an oil painting class Thursday mornings for 4 Thursdays. Haven't been to A Brush With Friends meeting/class since ? Things just keep cropping up. Been able to walk since the weather has been so nice. But, oh my gosh! the mosquito's are horrid. Was working outside in the sun and kept getting bitten. ( Forgot to wear anti mosquito stuff.)

Still haven't found time to fool with photo shop. Might help if I didn't play Banished and The Sims so much. Big Grin
