PostSubject: From the Back Porch to the Patio 2017   Sun Oct 16, 2016 12:18 am

The primary part of the move is completed.
The cats and I slept in my new apartment Friday night.
Actually the cats were cowering in any corner they could find for several hours after the move. Cats were in two separate carriers to be moved. Shasta was the most frantic meowing a lot even with his carrier on my lap. Faygo was in the back seat in a bigger carrier and was very quiet. However a strong smell made his presence known as he christened the cat carrier. Travis rolled down all the windows.

Cats are funny creatures. I'm glad the move is going well. I hope you slept well.

Thanks, MW. I do enjoy when the husband naps. Especially the nice long ones. Big Grin

EQ, is there such a thing as an uneventful moving day? Poor kitties. Hope you are settling in and the kitties adjusting to their new abode. And hope you have good neighbors. I have both. I avoid the bad ones.

Youngest came over yesterday with his family and I had fun visiting with the grandkids. They're such characters. Did puzzles and stickers with Jaxson and played peek-a-boo with Jocelyn. She's walking all over the place now and as busy as her brother. She'll be a year old next month.
My son had to take out the powder room sink to repair a valve and replace the faucet. All the faucets have been replaced now. Hopefully no more leaking faucets. He put in a new detachable shower head in the bathroom husband uses so showers should be easier for the helper to help him now. Son also cemented up the holes in back of house where vermin were getting in and trying to nest. I have wrestled with that problem for over a year and am so glad to finally have those holes filled. Last fall I used some foam and it worked until this year when critters dug out enough foam to get in again. Ugh! I could hear them through the heating ducts in living and dinning room. Sounds like one was closed in in the hole outside the dinning room, though. Suspect I hope it doesn't stink. eeek Husband is up. I can hear him beating up the walls as he comes down the hallway. Good thing I hadn't painted them yet.

Nice to hear your move went okay, EQ. I hope you have friendly neighbors and/or soundproof walls. If it doesn't work out maybe you can build your own tiny house on wheels.

Gram, that's good you've got the holes fixed up. Cleaning up droppings isn't fun. The only rodents I see around here are squirrels, and I like to give them nuts.

Hello Gilmore! Nice to see you hello6

Glad you're moved EuphorialQueen! I hope you and your kitties are adjusting well to your new home BaloonHeart

Gram, it so very nice of your son to be so helpful! I am glad he is there for you. Sounds like the grandkids are a lot of fun. We have trouble with Piney Squirrels chewing holes in the house in living in the walls....the gnawing is non stop...ugggg. I hope your trapped critter doesn't stink either. pale

First nine weeks of 6th grade is over and I am proud to say my son made the honor roll! One B and the rest A s.

Hi Gilmore.

It sounds like it was a great visit all around Gram. There are tons of squirrels outside my window. I'm very deaf though, so I don't hear them at all.

Give your son my congratulations BG.

Hi, Gilmore. hello6
The critter ate it's way out through the cement while it was still setting. rant Chicago has been treating it's rat problem with dry ice so we'll have to try that. I'm afraid the critter has tunneled under the patio. I can hear the scratching by the dinning room vent and the living room vent. So if I can find dry ice maybe that will do the trick.

Congratulations to your son, Buttonsginger. A wonderful accomplishment. highfive

Hello hello2 Gilmore and BG, Gramcrackers and MW and everyone.
Very nice and quiet here. I have a neighbor above but except for occasional floor creaks would not know they were there. I had a choice of facing the parking lot or "the woods".  Sight unseen I chose the woods. Got a good chuckle of the handful of trees that evidently qualify as woods. Lots of nicely manicured grassy space between buildings. There are a couple ponds in the complex that are quite nice. The apartment is very comfortable and for the first time EVER I have a dishwasher.  It also comes with a washer and dryer and microwave mounted above the new stove. And no more drafty windows.

Forgot to add I have some very crafty cats. They not only open the cabinets but have learned how to open the laundry room door.

That sounds like a really nice place EQ. All my neighbours are quiet to me. Whether they really are or not, I wouldn't know.

My daughter and I both had crafty cats. I think it must be in their nature. Luckily your cats haven't learned how to open the fridge. It is not a good site to come home and find a whole chicken on the kitchen floor that was supposed to be dinner.

We are having such beautiful weather here. It's been great for walking around the neighborhood with my 82 yr old neighbor who lives at the other end of the 'lake'. One of my sons has said he'd help me wash the house and dig up some 'weed' trees but he hasn't show up yet. Been playing a little more TS4 but have to say I didn't think that Day of The Dead challenge was fun. More like frustrating and aggravating. The last 4 times my Sim asked for a sugarskull from a new participating Sim each time, they they got a repeat sugarskull so couldn't finish the collection.
So, guess I'll dig into City Living now.

The End Is Near .... actually it is time for a new phase in life.
With only a few more work hours left I will be officially Retired!
After a 30 year career in nursing followed by the past 15 years at my current job I can finally relax.
I am still a couple years from full retirement age but not wanting to work for two more years.
Monday December 5th is my last official day and all I have to do is turn in my equipment.
I am sooooo ready

I'm not sure what happened but there was a flash after I signed in and I was not able to use the View Posts from last Visit.
Which means I don't know what's been happening and can't answer, view, etc. since I was last here. I am not ignoring, just can't answer. This has happened before. I hope no one thinks they're being slighted cause they're not.

Christmas was lovely. We celebrated on the 24th, here, so Christmas Day was very quiet and restful.
I had mt flu shot last Friday and 2nd pneumonia shot and had a bad reaction and was unwell the next day but fine the day after and able to attend church.
Medicate still pending and I had to find a Menards receipt from last March? but it'd gone missing from my records so found out could get it at a kiosk at Menards but needed to use the exact card to get the info as was used for the transaction. That didn't work and turns out was given the wrong card back at the bank last summer. so I guess it was a good thing I found that out. They ordered a new one but it won't come for awhile and the state wanted the info last Tues. eeek All that running around and stress!!!! And I was warned the application might not be accepted for state aid. Bob was going to stay at home anyway but we may have to pay the nursing home a lot more $$. Seems they only charged us half the fee and we would have to pay the home the difference if Bob's application isn't accepted. What an unhappy thought. Good news must be around the corner.

@Gramcrackers
So happy you had an enjoyable Christmas and wish you and your family a fabulous 2017!
Best of luck on getting qualified for help with your health care expenses.
Keep at it and do not take no for an answer. Is there a health care advocate that can help you with the process?
I am still working on getting finances in order after retirement. Health care insurance is one big ugly chunk of change out of pocket. Getting everything sorted can be a real pain.
Flu / pneumonia shots can be great to help lessen the chances becoming inflicted by these issues. Side effects are no fun Sad

Sign in or forum issues are annoying. I appreciate you sharing your experiences.

Thank you EQ.

Got my 'identity' stolen again. That's 3 in past 6? months. This time my bank account was used. What a headache to get things closed out and new opened up again. Didn't receive credit card in mail either. Not yet anyway. If it doesn't come next week will have to call again. Ugh. Takes up my 'fun' time.
Getting out of Steam the other day I didn't see that Folk Tales was updating and exited and messed up the Steam launcher. Finally decided to just uninstall Folk Tales when I read that it will reinstall without losing progress. Whee!!! Couldn't access the Steam launcher. Maddening mess. But all is well now.
Time to sign in Origin and see the new, exciting stuff. I hope.
