Did you all see Clint's assessment of 4 2 years in? I hate to say it but I totally agree with him. What do you all think?

Over the years I have agreed with him on most of his reviews. Sadly, I agree with him with this too.

An interesting monologue. I agree with some of what he says, but I haven't been playing it much. Of the three, I still like the Sims 2 the best. Sims 3 is my second. I have played with the Sims 4 a bit more lately, but I can see what he means about how easy it is to manipulate their emotions. I don't have any of the expansions or packs. I just have the basic game, the outdoor one and the work one.

I agree with him about how long it takes the Sims to eat when they are also chatting. It bugs me when they get up from the table and follow another Sim out of the room with their food. I've told the Sim to move out of the room so the other would eat faster. However, I did like it when I could have Dad read to all 4 of his kids while they were eating dinner. There are a lot of benefits to the multitasking.

I was having a lot of fun with @EuphorialQueen the other day on Skype doing a Sims 4 Cooking challenge. It is a fast challenge and we both had so much fun the first run through that we did it a second and third time. I had more fun with this challenge than I do with my family. I tend to play other games now more than I play the Sims, all 3 versions that I own.

It is quite sad. I have a world I am building in and playing in a bit in 3, but I don't play like I did. I think 2 had the most charm to it and some of the best animations. I loved 3 when it was out. And I still think it is superior to 4 overall, but now I can see its shortcomings compared to some of the good things in 4.

Will there be a 5? Who knows? And what will it be?

There is a lot that I like about 4, but it just does not hold my interest like the others. I could sit down to play 3 an hour and still be playing as long as 14-16 hours later!!!!  I don't do that with 4.

Sims4 totally crushed my love of the sims Crying or Very sad    I too stopped buying stuff for it.  I'm in a wait and see with the Sims4.  I find myself playing everything but the Sims!  After I watched CLint's video (nodding through the whole thing - spot on!) , I installed all my Sims3 game plus store content.  Headed over to NRAAS to pick up the necessary mods to play it.  Maybe I'll get to play with some of the store content that I bought but never used. ROFL   I for one never minded modding the snot out of sims3 to make it playable.  I LOVE checking out new worlds and building!! I so miss the building...  I started adding up my s3 purchases and stopped - so much $$$ I put into that game.  I refuse to spend another dime on the franchise until changes are made.  I get that the open world is a harder game to run on a laptop but I'm okay with that!  I don't like how boring and dumbed down the sims4 is.

Crossing my fingers that the new management will make something good happen.  Not holding my breath for S5 either Mad

I was just building in 3 last night. I have all installed but only part of my CC. I have my Nraas mods all in. I am playing in a world someone else started and was kind enough to share the files. Went into CAW and have made quite a few changes, but it is so much faster than building a new one. And I really like what the person did.

Last night I dropped a 64x64 lot in the ocean and am starting a roller coaster amusement park. I had never done a coaster from scratch before and had only redone lots by others. I had to read the tute I had. I was up all night working on that! I know when done my Sim will probably be the only person there, LOL, but dang, it was so much fun.

To be able to add a lot, add in the water, sculpt the terrain, and do all we can, and color the coaster just as wanted. SOOOOOOOOO much more interesting to me than 4.

WIP

Thank you! There are many nice things about building in 4, but overall I still like building in 3 much more. Smile

That is Auntielynds pier in the background with a WIP B&B. Love that I could drop that right in the water too.

LOVE! I forgot how awesome the water was after Island Paradise. I loved all the features that pack added. Your lot is awesome - the roller coaster is one of those items I bought but didn't really use. The open world is what I think I miss the most - that and cfe, toddlers, ....

I missed all so much that that is why I have it all installed and am playing it again.

You should do a coaster. Drop a lot in IP or wherever and start one. Smile

I'm still hoping I can play my Sims 3 games again. Need a free day to find out why it's not behaving and how to fix it.
I like 4 but seem to get bored with it. Never was bored with Sims 1, 2, and 3.

That is a really cool roller coaster island, Daisy.

Hope you can get 3 up and running again, Gram! What issues are you having?

Sadly, that is the problem with 4. Many of us get bored in 4 way too fast. It has been months since I have really played it. Have done some building, but that is it.

I never was bored with 1-3.

Thanks! I need to do more work on that coaster lot.  Smile

I'm listening to LGR right now and so far he has nailed it! And I also agree 100% with Pieta that The Sims 4 has destroyed my love for this game. I haven't really opened up either Sims 4 or 3 and for some unknown reason I can't launch 2 so I just gave up on that one and uninstalled that whole series. I played S3 for hours upon hours upon hours, more than what I played 2 and definitely way more than I play 4.

At first I thought my lack of enthusiasm of this game was due to living here and helping my dad and his "disapproval" of gamers had a big reason. Maybe that has played a big part on it, time will tell as we will be moving out and turning him over to my sister. We just can't do it any longer, it's getting to be unhealthy for both myself and my husband. I spent 9 1/2 years in the nursing home environment as a CNA and taking care of residents with dementia were easier to be around than my dad. It's just been a horrible experience all around and it really hurts to say that about a parent.

Anyway back on topic, I commented in another post on City Living. I was all geeked out and extremely excited for this expansion to come out, then I found out yesterday that we will not be able to build apartments in any of the other worlds, they are exclusive to only San Myshuno and my enthusiasm busted like a over inflated balloon. Because I'm a builder more with this game than with Sims 3, I was really looking forward to building apartments. Shoot I've already got one done and waiting to just add the stuff from the expansion to it and now I've got to scrap that whole build! Soo disappointed in The Sims/Maxis/EA right now. All hope that I have been trying so hard to hold onto for this game is ever so slowly slipping away and I fear that this may be the end to The Sims series. It is sad really, because this game could have really launched a whole new experience for this series and blown it out of the water.

I find it all very sad. I just don't Sim like I did and now spend way too much time on FB in some doll groups. I have done 2 skulls so far in the DOD challenge and I am glad we do have that as I like the DOD theme. But overall, the game just does not hold my interest. And I am irritated that we cannot build apartments and that we are getting another microscopically small world. Simmers are not happy. This just is not what it was. Sad

I ordered the new EP ( wasn't going to cause really don't care for apartment living - too confining ) but it looked so promising and now I'm having bad time with playing that Day of the Dead skull challenge and wish I hadn't ordered the new EP.
When I go back to play a save, the household is outside no matter what time it is and they all have to use a bathroom. This is funny? And things break in bunches which I find annoying but will let the Sim go somewhere anyway and the plumbing can just wait. It's also annoying to take a fully charged in needs Sim somewhere and the needs go down faster than they should so you can't accomplish what you want for the Sim.
