PostSubject: Long time no see...Hi everyone!   Sat Feb 20, 2016 10:01 am

Wow, I can't even remember the last time I checked in here. A lot has happened over the past several months. Let's see if I can re-cap as best and short as I can!

First, my hubby was diagnosed with COPD in late summer of last year, although he continued to work it got to the point where he couldn't even lay down to sleep without waking up coughing or not being able to breath.

Second, in late November he handed in his two week notice at work and we made the decision, not knowing if it was going to work or not, to move out of the air polluted Louisiana back to our home state of Michigan. We made our journey and arrived in my hometown, Hancock in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, on December 5. Thankfully they didn't have any snow on the ground so putting our things in storage was easy. We are staying with my dad, as he lives in a huge home and it's too much for him to handle all by himself with snow removal and such. Eventually we will be finding our own place as my dad has mentioned doing some last minute fixes to the place and then selling it. When we got here, there was no internet or cable so we went for a few months without, but that was okay because it gave us all the opportunity to not be distracted. LOL Even though I really missed not having the internet. All three of my older daughters, who live around the area here, had that luxury so when I needed a fix I would just go "borrow" their wifi for a minute or three, hehehe.

Third. The hardest part of moving back was leaving our youngest daughter and grandson behind so she could finish her schooling. She will be graduating from high school in May and we will be going back down for that. I keep in constant contact with her and we have plenty of people down there who are keeping an eye on her and are there if she ever needs them for anything. She's been living with her boyfriend for over a year and was living with him while we were still there, but it still felt like my heart was being ripped out of my chest to leave her behind. We weighed our options, we could of forced her to come but we also know how the schools up here can be and we just didn't want to take the chance that if we pulled her out down there they would of made her go an extra year here just because they would of found something to keep her in so they could get the extra money for her being enrolled in their school.

We have had a ton of snow dump on us in just a short time and really I'm so sick of scooping and shoveling I'm definitely ready for spring and summer. Hahaha

What a lovely surprise to see your post. What a big decision to make such a distant move. Al least you are now near the majority of your family. And hey ... we are practically neighbors .. sort of ... Laughing I am in Ohio and as a native Buckeye forgive your Wolverine heritage. Whistle
(Those not in the know... Michigan Wolverines and The Ohio State University Buckeyes are major sport rivals.)
Hopefully your youngest and her Son will join you and live close by.
COPD is a scary thing because it literally takes your breath away. Perhaps the weather .. though not ideal .. will ease his symptoms.

Oh and Welcome back to internet and Sims and TSCC forum.

Welcome back! I hope the weather in Michigan is better for you husband. I can understand the difficulty of leaving your daughter behind. It will not be for long I'm sure.

Thank you EQ and MW! It feels good to be back online. When I would go to one of my daughter's homes to jump on the web, I would get so jealous of seeing everyone having so much fun with the new expansion pack and noticed I had some patches to update my game. The first thing I did once getting back online was update my game and buy not only Get Together but also the Romance stuff pack. I've played a little bit and will be jumping in game here soon for a little bit. I haven't had the chance to really scope out Get Together but from the little bit I did play, I really like it so far. Smile

For the most part the weather or mostly clear crisp dry air has in a way, has proven to be a good decision to move back. My hubby has been able to sleep with limited cough and breathing problems.

We are hoping and keeping our fingers crossed that our youngest and her son will join us here once school is over. She is planning on attending a university and submitted her application to Michigan Technological University. The registrar from there called her the day after she submitted her application and said that she was going to look into whether she could come in as a resident due to we are already living here and her out of state tuition fee would be waived. Keeping our fingers crossed on that too!

EQ, I forgive you for being a Buckeye.... Wink

Glad to hear from you MJ! Sounds like the move was the right decision. I bet you're happy to have your own Internet again. Hope to see your game play adventures soon !

Congratulations on your move to the UP. Hope your husband is dong better. That's a scary ailment to have.

I was born in the UP but Mormor (think I spelled that right - means Mothers' mother) moved to Harbor Springs after the war and we visited her there every summer. I love MI and still have cousins living in the area. Every few years I need a MI 'fix' and have to go visit!
