Quoted fromn the above link:
Release notes for 04/13/2015, PC Version 1.5.149.1020/ Mac Version 1.5.149.1220
Howdy Simmers,
While everybody else has been trying to "Get to Work", SimGuruGnome has been trying to "Get Some Time Off" for a while now. We took pity on him and let him out of his cave temporarily.
Here's a small round of fixes to rein in a few pesky problems…

Issues Fixed

  • Our overly-friendly visitors from Sixam were a bit too amorous. We've reduced the frequency of alien abductions and further reduced the frequency of male pregnancy thereafter. We know our men are good looking but that's no excuse!
  • We've fixed a couple issues in the Medical career that could cause problems for actions around repairing broken medical equipment or transferring a patient case. A career in medicine can be grueling for anybody, but nobody wants to be given an impossible task.
  • We've upgraded the firmware on our cameras to prevent larger photos from appearing too dark. We’ve also fixed an issue that was causing screenshots to come out blurry.
  • So what did five say to three about… you know what? I don't have a joke for this. Save Error 531 is bad and we fixed a couple situations that would cause it to occur.
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused a crash when doing sciencey stuff during the Scientist career.
  • Is your Sim unsatisfied with their love life? Maybe it's all that alien affection they've been getting, or maybe it's the stress from their new careers, but our Sims have been leaving their partners with an unsatisfied moodlet. We've conducted some remedial WooHoo education and Sims should now be better about taking care of their partner's needs.
  • Fixed an issue where children and teens weren't getting school credit if they were coming home in a mood not explicitly approved by their school. Harsh!
  • A recent update mistakenly removed some items from teens, but they’re back now. Teens can wear heels again! Fashionable teen Sims can once again experience unnecessary foot pain in the name of looking good.
  • We fixed a few unintended issues on our side that caused problems with certain types of CAS Custom Content.

That's all for this quick update. Most of these fixes started as feedback from the community and we couldn't do it without your help and support.

-SimGuruGnome's Understudy

Additional notes from Crinrict
http://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2015/04/patch-1-5-149-1020-pc1-5-149-1220-mac/
Love this first bit:

This is only a small patch but it fixes a number of really annoying bugs. I think this is the first time that all 9 fixes posted in the patch notes are issues a lot of people had and not some obscure bugs that would only occur if you had chanted a song beforehand while standing on your head.

Wow. I didn't have any of those problems but then I just started playing the science career yesterday. Or rather my Sim did. Rolling Eyes
But I've been having problems with Sims reading the 2nd skill book, cooking and handiness so far. The Sim doesn't progress when reading book 2 ( of course he's already read 1st skill book), will say the book 2 is too advanced for them but will continue reading the 1st skill book to increase their skill. And the skill meter will show up even though he's already read book 1, where as it doesn't for the 2nd skill book. And the skill will increase when they continue reading book 1 even though the Sim is a level 3. Very weird.
Also had more game freezing than I've ever had when I'd take Olie traveling. Didn't take me long to save before every travel event. Whistle
Sim's task was to Synthesize Serum but box was greyed out and no ingredients were given.
There were no dig , or very very few, spots the Oasis Springs park and no cherry tree or blackberry bushes. I remember awhile back when playing a Sims at that park the blackberry bushes were trash?, green mist rising from them and Sim couldn't interact with one. I did notice that the dig spots had migrated to the Science lot, there must be a dozen there, but I'll bet non scientists can't get to that lot to utilize the digs.
I want the cherry trees and blackberry bushes back! Mad And where in the world is that blankety-blank tomato plant? My Sims can't find it anywhere. Olie is almost to level 7 gardening and then I'll have him purchases seeds again and maybe some of the missing vegetation or fruit tree will be available to grow.

Re: Skill books
Each book needs to be read several times to gain the skill levels.  I think at least twice. If they read Skill book one and get the bored *I already know this stuff* Moodlet then move to book 2.

Will be able to open game in about 90 minutes.
Then can help with the other collectibles. }}

I will have to check about the blackberries. My sims have almost everything prior to GTW in their garden so their inventories are so full of stuff it is crazy. They are in Oasis and there are more digsites around their house than before I think.

I want a mod for faster skills. My sims read and read and read and seem to get nowhere or only VERY slowly.

Reading is now the slowest way to gain skills. Actual practice is faster but still can take a while to Max the skill.

Those last few levels take forever. Especially for something like mischief where you cannot tell a sim to use a treadmill and they will stay on it. I think the sims in my family are pretty tired of Elena and her constant mischief interactions. Laughing

The computer action of "Troll Teh Forum" helps level up Mischief. And choosing random strangers instead of family also helps keep the peace.

Ooh, thank you! I will park her at the computer a while then!  Big Grin

And why they have not fixed that is amazing unless they did it on purpose thinking it is funny?

So that is why my Sims will Troll Teh Forums when I'm not looking.
I was wrong about the science lot having 12 digs; the lot has maybe 30?
I had never seen plants decay like the blackberry bushes and cherry tree at the park. After finding them like that after the 3rd or so visit, I deleted them. If they are in buydebug maybe I can put them back.
I doubt the dig sites will show up on their own either. There were none, nada, in the block where BBF live. Olie was able to get a focus mineral/metal? at the science lab so he and Blake can go to work focused now.
That's odd about the skill books. And it does take a long time for them to get skilled now. I get bored right along with them. Handiness seems the worst to get skilled up so I got Olie a wood working shop table and yesterday a rocket ship. Well, he wanted one.

And because it takes so long to do the skills many of my sims now do not make it to the tops of their careers, and for those that do it is often as I have had to have them drink the potion to reset their ages.

I did not like that so much I now have them on the extended lifespan.
There is a potion they can buy from the aspiration store where they can learn faster. I assume reading books faster includes the skill books. There is also one for learning better in the morning and one for the afternoon. Olie got the reading faster one. Haven't had time to try it yet so I don't know if it's temporary or forever.

I am pretty sure I have gotten them for everyone and it is still sooooooooooo slooooooooooooow for them to read. And they have such short attention spans in my family. Someone reads in a chair off and on, then moves to the dining room table for a few seconds, then stands a bit, then puts the book on a dresser or who knows where. They do not stick with it.

And one thing is bad is that if we use the potion then there is no way to age them up after they complete the goal you want them to reach. I think there are some cheats and I really need to look into that.

On community lots there is sometimes the option to 'Remove All Wild Plants'. I finally got brave enough to test it.
It removes the dead / decayed plants and then they will automatically respawn later.
Any dig site or plant or Frog Log takes a bit to spawn and requires time spent in that area to appear. I was forever trying to get wild trees / plants to spawn in some cases. I needed Plantains and Pomegranates for a couple of the serums Curt needed to create. I tip I found while searching for gardening / serum info was to click on the planters at the Science lot for Seed Packets. That turned out to be a quick way to get the Spinach I needed for the Ox Strength Serum.
Also found a quick list for Grafting to get other plants. After getting enough Garden skill you can 'Take a Cutting' and then later use the Graft option. That was how I finally (took me long enough) got Pomegranates. I would take cuttings from the Cherry trees that were not ready to harvest then graft to an Apple tree.
• Orchid + Pomegranate = Death Flower
• Lily + Snapdragon = Orchid
• Strawberry + Daisy = Bonsai Buds
• Strawberry + Snapdragon = Dragonfruit
• Dragonfruit + Snapdragon = Cowplant Berry
• Apple + Cherry = Pomegranate
• Tulip + Chrysanthemum = Bird of Paradise
• Sage + Basil = Parsley
• Pear + Lemon = Plantain

PS: Gardening is way to time intensive in this game for me. I am trying to reduce the number of plants by grafting.
I still have two pure (not grafted) Dragonfruit plants because the fruit sells for a good profit.

I have done major grafting and it still takes so long. I am tempted to check out a gardener mod. It think I saw one.

The Youth Potion does not freeze their age. It just resets back to the beginning of that stage. I kept Olie a YA by drinking the potion just before his adult birthday. Even turning off aging can allow Sims to age by using the birthday cake. Elders on the other hand must have aging ON to be able to age and finally die.
Are you maybe thinking of the Age Freeze from Sims 3?

There was a link posted at SimsVIP back in October.

Spoke too soon. That is now a dead link.

I wish that like in 3 we could age elders up to death. When I have an elder drink the potion I have to play them totally through the elder stage again and would prefer to not have to that. I end up with a sim that should have been long gone who is hanging around forever. If there was a way to move over their inventories I would just move them out.

We need Master Controller!

Yes they do like to do that and it is annoying.  I was having to hunt for their books.  They are good at 'hiding' them.

You're right EQ, the gardens are time consuming. I, too, have started grafting plants to cut down on the number of plants to care for. I saw that idea here but am not sure who posted they were doing that. Lionpaws?
I can't remember where I saw particulars on grafting plants and where they were located and what plants were in the game. But it is handy information. scratch Didn't think to post that info. So glad you did! thumbs up

I'm trying that for a bit, grafting I mean. I was looking for tomatoes, but found only potatoes. taking a cut was the only thing I could do. Isn't tomatoes suppose to be in the same boxes by the trailers? I just couldn't find it.

I tried grafting with my previous farm as well. I replaced the previous plant, and that's not what my grandfather did. He had apples on a plum tree or similar.

That is good news about the mailboxes as there are some I want to delete and some I want to replace.

I have the garden grafted down to 3-4 items per tree or plant so have far fewer, but it still take so much time to garden.

I had forgotten how this was the last time I made farms. I have to make something more reasonable next time, it's always so big. I'm using scumbumbo's mod and with four in the family doing the farm at skill levels above 7 all of them, it takes much shorter time and I can have them fertilize and tend all day long. it's almost the only thing they do. Socialize can't be easy with the farm to tend to. I'm trying to send them to the bakery once in a while, but the home farm suffers. It doesn't look like the bakery plants suffer from not being attended to. It can be days before they come back to look at it.

My sim owns a bakery and has not been there so the plants are probably all dead now. I need to check regarding that mod.
