PostSubject: Where's My House (Homeless)   Thu Sep 18, 2014 3:34 pm

I thought I'd try a homeless sim.  I don't have any rules except she can't have a house or a job.  I'm basically just winging it to see if she can reach level 10 in Fishing and Handiness in hopes of cracking that mine wide open and get to Forgotten Grotto.    I will be playing Simka For're

Aspiration - Angling Ace           Traits - Childish, Loner, Love the Outdoors and Collector

I found this lot in the gallery by (tiptoehappiness).  It an abandoned park that is residential and made a few changes to suit my own preferences.  There are no applicances, computers, or bathrooms.  She does have a bench to nap on and a toy box, (she's childish) and they make her happy.  There are also a couple of planter boxes to start a garden at some point.  Simka has exactly $100 in her funds and will make her money selling her fish and collectibles.  I noticed from other game play that the showers/toilets at public place break, so I'm hoping to build her handiness skills by repairing them.  The challenge of taking care of her needs will come from visiting public places. With only $100, paying $32 for tofu dogs is not going to cut it, so she'll have to look for food until she's earned a considerable amount of simoleons.  The fact that she's a loner will make it difficult to visit neighbors home in search of food and filing her needs bar as well.

Simka arrives at her new home.

Her first fish

Ahhh . . . relief  Laughing

Don't want to offend anyone with bad breath - So fresh so clean  Whistle

Simka is feeling right at home with the kids

Maybe there's something she can deem edible in here, she very hungry!

YES FOOD!!

Yumm, those were quite tasty

Getting in a little play time before bed time, she had a full first day.

The next morning she's at the library fulfilling those social needs . . . (She's a loner, to many people and she gets "Stranger Danger")   lolgal

Hey they have books on fishing!  I've just enough time to brush up a bit and then a quick nap.

Uh oh napped to long, gotta hurry   ZipDash

In search of food the next morning, she finds the tables are bare.  Maybe it's too early, she sure could go for some pancakes right about now   Crying or Very sad

Uh excuse me, much as I like toys, I can't eat this   rant

Tune in, will Simka starve after only two days  thinkin

P.S. Hope it wasn't to long, I got carried away giggle

Thank you ladies

I've run into a couple of snafus

1. So many people show up at the library that she hardly has a chance to do anything before she's in "Stranger Danger" mode.  I thought that when she's earned so money I could order some . . . NOPE the option is not on the computers in the library  Mad

You also can't put them in your inventory, which I guess would be stealing.  Where's the kleptomaniac trait when you need it.  Then she would only be borrowing it.    Laughing

2.  Answer to your question AL, which I don't understand.  Maybe her cooking skills need to be higher.  I've seen in other game play, a plate of Pancake Bob's pancakes, is he cooking those on the grill?

I thought about getting her a grill to place on the lot, but that would be breaking the rule. So Ive got to find some clever way to get her some skill books Whistle

It looks like I have no choice.  I had hope she could use the Slablet because it can go in her inventory, but she can only read E books and you can't purchase books with it.  Why they didn't make it like the one in Sims 3 makes it useless in my case.  I wanted to have it where she take what she needed with her.  The backpack effect, and how I miss the fire pits she should at least be able to cook what fish she catches and fruits/vegetables harvested.

On another frustration . . .  They keep saying you can play Sims 4 offline, that's completely untrue.  Sure you can click to go to offline mode, but you can not close out Origin.  How is that offline if you still have to keep it running?  confused  Even their "On the House" games now Origin must be running.

Morning all   CoffeeSip

Simka lives another day  cheers  after searching around she finally spotted a table with food, this time it burgers

Why am I joining this game, I feel a case of SD coming on   eeek

Catching up on some Zzzz before traveling home, it's getting late.

This is Pinkie (Blarffy renamed) Simka plays with her, gives hugs, tells her stories, and plays Peek-A-Boo

Simka decided she wated to do some fishing, late in the evening of course, but she did manage to find a meal before starting.  Burgers and Hotdogs  again.  She's still thinking about those pancakes.

Oh look it's the ferry! I bet they have all kinds of food aboard.  To be a stow away on that puppy would be heaven   Big Grin

Uh oh I think I got a big one!

After a number of  Embarassed

Okay Ferry take a hike, you're scaring away the fish Mad

Finally   banana    WaveCheer    banana

Simka has to get to the library around 1 a.m. if she wants to catch up on her skill reading alone. She hides in the kiddie room.

This woman always seems to show up and put a damper on her mood.

Simka finally got enough gardening skills to harvest a few plants.  She plays in the water after taking care of them.

I think I may have to go back to using the snipit tool.  The screenshots the game takes doesn't show the thought bubbles.  While napping on a bench, a fellow napper woke with a picture of a pillow as wishing he had one. (Without that it ruins the pic)

Simka seems to be taking her frustration out on Pinkie.  Bad Simka  Sad   Notice she wants to buy appliances . .  hmm
She got the bunny from rummaging

Thanks EQ  and MW ( LOL ) I'm having a lot of fun with this one  cheers

It's very challenging with the food and reading.  You don't realize how easy the Sims everyday life is until they don't have what they need.

MORE UPDATES:

Simka found the Secret Tree to Slyvan Glade.  She watered it, talked to it and soon she could go in.

Simka can now examine the water when fishing

One thing I didn't know was you can catch fruit.  That never happened with my other sims.  banana  She was tired of waiting on that apple tree anyway.   Laughing

Celebrate  Can't wait to see what it could be   Celebrate

She's gotten creative with her money.  One of her aspirations was to mount or bowl 15 fish.  She had $1100, bought 15 bowl at
$60 =(900) to get the aspriation points of 500 (Yeah) then removed the fish from all the bowls  and sold  them.  After selling the first one I realized she was only getting $48 for the bowl and did not include the price of the fish in it.  Fool me once!  I Got It

One of the rewards she wants . . . . She's half way there

That's all for now and beside this image server is acting wacky  eeek

It's 2 a.m. and Simka is very hungry

I don't suppose you know if there's a Jack in the Box in town do you?

Embarassed  Just realized I didn't have a trashcan

Simka is now able to look for spare parts

She finally had to fork over $40 to cook burgers on the grill

It's no Jack in the Box, but they will do in a pinch.  They turned out to be excellent burgers

Back of buster, I was here first!

What did you say, Oh no you didn't

And you, stay out of this loud mouth

Why you dirty old man, stop looking at my bust!

If you want to keep that tongue, you'de better put back in your mouth.

I gave you fair warning, it's on now!

Lucky for him it was more important for her to use the bathroom.  Which she upgraded her first one afterwards. Thank goodness for walls.

Yippee, I caught a pomegranate!

Then Simka did something that truely amazed her.  The catch of the day is worth over a thousand dollars, not one but two!   high five    Celebrate  Spend $40 and make 2k, the day doesn't get any better than that.   banana

I'm not sure what's happening with the  images suddenly coming out different.  This scenario was so hilarious I had to get it up before I forgot my words.  Are we havin fun yet??  ROFL

I am curious to know what the bills are on your lot. Does landscaping count towards the value of the lot and therefore raise the bills?

But there is usually a crowd so SD may be a hazard. Laughing

Just some tidbits

I guess as your cooking level goes up you get other options on the grill.

Simka has caught another big one worth almost 3k.  Still not sure if this is the mysterious fish   thinkin

Voodoo Doll - Look out Sims don't make her angry Laughing

After selling most of her expensive fish, frogs, and crystal she has racked a good sum of simoleons

I'm not sure what happens when she reaches 100 hrs fishing, but she's close.  Just at the beginning of level 6 in handiness so no Grotto yet

Love this story.

I had a level10 fishing sim, he never caught a fish that valuable. best was about $1,200. How did you do that? are there different fish on differnt fishing spots? and how do I know, I can't see that examining the water gives any clues.

I'm not sure how that works either.  When examining the "Ponds" in Willow/Oasis, they both say the rarest fish are found there.  I do know that using and bigger fish with a high value for bait helps.  Ive fished as most of the spots, but the ponds are where I catch the better one.

The saga continues

Simka doesn't want her sitting there and it appears she's not fond of her shirt   Laughing

She's not taking the hint to leave . . .

It was bound to happen

I made the mistake of walking away from the game and not on paused.

All those hot dog and burgers have taken a toll on Simka.  Time to brave SD for a needed workout at the gym

These machines are not as easy as they look

I think she's getting the hang of it

Simka has completed her aspiration

I haven't picked another aspiration yet, I want to wait until she reaches level 10 in handiness.  Then maybe buy her a bed, toilet, grill and maybe a frig so she grill fresh vegetables.
