I like it! It does take some getting used to, but it runs so much faster and more smoothly. The Sim interactions are so much better I find myself watching them more instead of micro-managing. They interact so much nicer that it's more fun to take them out of the house to the different venues in the two towns.

The building is taking some getting used to but I'll get there as well. I still tend to draw my walls simply because I'm used to it that way. I LOVE that you can move windows and some wall mounted ornaments up and down very easily. The foundation is fantastic as well.

I am sorry to say that everything I liked about Sims is NOT in the game as far as I have seen yet.

How I miss the neighborhood with the little town square, the town hall, the grocery, the little bookshop, the school and the hospital and… and …and …

And how I miss being able to customize the neighborhood.

Can it be right that you can’t make new lots – there are way too few??

I admit the Sims are fun to look at and multitasking is great – but I don’t think they follow their traits very well
and the time pass so fast. My Sims use all their time peeing, eating, showering and sleeping …

I am very disappointed in babies – we are back to Sims 1 where you could only interact with babies standing at the cradle..

Please tell me – am I being too negative?? Please tell me there are lot of things I haven't discovered..

Only if I find out I am wrong and there are great things I haven’t discovered is it likely I will stick with the game – or else I am afraid  I am done with The Sims . So sad!!!

Hello Meresimp
hello3
I posted comments in these two places.
Challenging: The Sims 4 in One Word - EQ's Opinion
And additional comments on Clayworld's thread.
I have one save that I am doing several families by switching between them.
They are all doing different things.
Then I have a save with a single Sim focusing on the Knowledge Aspiration.
I am not really worried about expanding or changing the world or taking a lot of time to build.
I can see how World Creators and Builders would not be getting a lot of satisfaction at this stage.
Hopefully if you decide not to play just now there will be changes down the road that will lure you and others like you back into the game.
For myself I do not get out to travel or go much of anywhere so I am living vicariously thru my Sims.

I was absolutely not going to buy this game because the graphics look so 10 years ago and the idea of no CASt, no pools and no toddlers was just too much for me to take, but I've purchased every sims game from 1 - 3 and every stuff pack and EP, with the exception of the Katy Perry pack and The Movie pack. I just couldn't break the pattern Laughing
I bought the game expecting to hate it but am pleasantly surprised.
I still would prefer the Sims 3 graphics but I've been able to look past that because the Sims are so much more alive. Like what was said above, they don't need micro management to keep a conversation going and they can have a nice group discussion. Sims will also eat at the table together which I really missed in Sims 3.
Some of the challenge from the Sims 2 is back also which I really like. I could quickly get bored with my sims in 3 because Simoleans were so easy to get. It's not easy in Sims 4.
I don't know if it's been mentioned elsewhere but your Sim can have up to 5 outfits in each category and rotate through them. This is something I always wished sims could do. So that's a big plus. thumbs up
I forgot to add. It's very difficult to make friends.

So far I find it very interesting. Making friends can be real slow but I don't like that it is so difficult to keep them. I have a Sim in the Space field and she needs 4 friends to get promoted to the next level. She has 3 roommates and can't sustain those friendships let alone make another friend.
The jobs are very different and the tasks they must do, every day keep me busy. My Mixologist must cook so much every day and also practice her mixing skill. . The computer programer has tasks to do on the computer, the Museum curator must paint ( which goes towards job promotions ) and collect crystals, frogs, and something else - minerals?
The group chats are a help. Calling someone to chat on the phone is negligible. My biggest problem is getting around. Edge scrolling is difficult and so is zooming in. By the time I get where I want to go the scene is over.

School: Now your child must do things besides homework to increase their grades.  They start out with a C grade level. If you only do homework, it stays there. There are two lines below the school progress meter that have things the child must do to increase the grade level. For instance, my child had to get to skills to level four and go to school energized once. After these were done she popped up to a B level. Then she unlocked the option to do "extra credit". First you must complete the homework then tick on the homework again to get the extra credit option. She is still a child so it will be interesting to see if anything changes when she ages to teen.

Even though there are many irritations I have liked playing it. But it takes a while to get used to. Smile

I am going to need more worlds asap as what we have is WAY too small.

I'm really confused about this game. It seems like it is taking a giant step backwards. It's weird..what's the selling point then?
Are the Sims themselves and their personalities more advanced? So the game play itself is more fun?
I can't see going back to loading screens whenever my Sim leaves the house though. Plus no CAST. The one thing they have that I want is the new CAS . I would like that. I'm assuming creating for this game is easier without the CAST..is that correct?

For me the selling point is that it is something different. I like playing the different careers. I like finding different things. I like seeing different paintings. The worlds are tiny but they are beautiful. These sims are more expressive and more active. I miss all the things that are gone, but have to admit I have not played 3 since I got 4.

I really like the New Orleans theme. Love it when the streetcar goes by and loved seeing the riverboat.

@ Friday I have to agree with daisy. I am really enjoying this game. There is so much to do and learn. It's not just the same old, same old. A different way of playing has me really excited. I have to admit, I haven't opened my Sims 3 since installing Sims 4. We do have a section with some Modding info. Sims 4 CC & Mods

daisylee, The New Orleans theme does look beautiful. It looks like you can walk around town. I heard somewhere that you can't move freely in the world like Sims 3.
Buttonsginger, It sounds like there's a lot of changes as far as the Sims themselves. I guess it's one of those things you just have to try for yourself to know. I'm glad to hear people do like it. I'm not going to get it for a little while probably but I'm sure I'll get it.
Thanks for the link. I'm amazed at how quick people are with the modding.

It does look like you can just send your sim out to walk around but you can't. You'll have a loading screen come up every time you want your sim to go to a different lot. Fortunately for now the loading takes only about 15 seconds but I would imagine as EPs are added that will change.
It's really hard to encourage or discourage anyone to buy or not buy this game.
It all depends on personal taste and game play styles.
The game is new and I haven't experienced most of what is in the game, but I do like the Sims themselves enough that for now I can overlook the lack of CASt and the closed world.
The game is more challenging now also. Money isn't near as easy to make in the game nor are friends but I missed the challenge with Sims 3.
It has it's share of bugs and glitches also though none that are game breaking yet.  *Knocks on wood.

I really like TS4!

Love the multitasking aspect of the game and I find the social interactions more realistic.
The building tools are great and so much more user friendly.
And for me personally the clutter, decor, clothing and hairstyles are definitely improved.

There are lots of things that I miss from TS3, but I am sure that with future patches and expansions we'll see those aspects being added to the game.

The only really big negative for me is the fact that there is no CASt, and that it definitely doesn't seem like it will be a possibility in the future. Not sure how long I will enjoy building if I can only use preset styles.

Oh yeah, the closed world is almost a deal breaker for me. I know once you get enough CC and mods and EP's that loading time will get harder and harder to take.

Preset styles? So do you have to choose from pre-made rooms or something?
I wish they would have done all of the improvements with the Sims without losing so much good stuff. Sad

You can choose premade rooms but you also can build as we did before. The one thing I do not like that well so far is that you tend to build in blocks more and I still am not used to that.

I got discouraged when those 'special' places ( that a Sim had to have level 10 in handiness to access ) broke.  In one save after a Sim was finally able to access the hidden place, I found the hidden place open when I played another Sim who wasn't a level 10 in handiness.  Then when a Sim went back in to the grotto, she could not harvest any plants and the digs had disappeared.  She could fish  but that was all.
I've been playing Sim City Deluxe and went back to TS3 the other day.  Enjoyed that. Have missed CASt dreadfully.

Merry Christmas to you, Meresimp. santa choir

As for what I think of the Sims 4.
I uninstalled everything, including Windows from my PC about a month ago so I could start fresh. I happily re-installed Sims 3 and have shelved Sims 4. It's just too graphically backwards and I don't like the linear play at all. The rest of the list of things I didn't like is too long to go into. I gave it a fair try for a month hoping to find something to like but sad to say I found nothing appealing. I'm going to re-install Sims 2 when I have the time to just sit and do it. I'm not sure how long it will take to DL. I may treat myself to some Steam cards for Christmas and see what they have to offer.

Merry Christmas!

Sims 4 just isn't doing it for me. Making sims is fun, but so limited in terms of clothing and no CAST. I just don't feel it. Maybe after an EP or two, right now, it's just too limited for me. If I felt like expending the energy and had the content I needed, I can see creating a medieval world, but why not just play Castle Keep or that French one? And the block feet and rotational play are killing me, think I'll just fire up Sims 2, at least there are interesting story lines in that one.

mc and a safe and Happy New Year meresimp!

It has taken me a lot to get used to Sims 4. I'm a builder and I find the lack of free (unoccupied) lots irritating as I don't want to eliminate the preoccupied lots. Another thing that has been a downer for me as far as building goes, the lack of lot sizes like we have in TS3. With that being said, I do like the ability to move windows into different positions on the walls, the 3 stage heights to the walls (although it would be nice if we didn't have to make every wall on that level the same height) and the freedom of the roofing along with different shapes. It did take me sometime also to get used to whole drag and push concept both in CAS and Build mode. I'm happy they brought back MOO in the last patch! Yay!!!!!

I'm a huge user of CC so my sims are starting to resemble actual real people, meaning they aren't all looking like every other sim up in the gallery. (I however don't put much up into the gallery, some players are all about getting Maxis or the guru's to notice their builds or sims, to me I could careless if they did. I say bah to that)

As far as the gameplay goes...well after a few hours I get bored and tired of the game, but that just isn't limited to TS4 it also goes for TS3. Maybe I'm just outgrowing it. No  I used to love sitting for hours just playing, but then started doing other things like making my own CC, doing more building than playing, joining comps and such. I think it just kind of took the wind out of the sail and made it less fun for me. It isn't anything for me to go for days without launching my game anymore, where as before if I had to quit to do anything I always rushed back as quickly as I could so I could just get in game. Maybe I need to step away from the "other" stuff and just get back into my game play.

I'm certainly going to give TS4 an honest shot, see what happens and what comes down the pipeline for it. After all you have to keep reminding yourself that it is a brand new game and TS3 didn't have all the bells and whistles at the start.
