After eight hours of play... Come on now loading screens when visiting a neighbor? Honestly... Suspect Have to actually work different careers to unlock buymode items? scratch

Too many abilities/items from TS3 base game *POOF* gone.

* New interface is kinda cool tho. Graphics look REALLY nice. Ultra settings, my aging ATI Radeon 5870 graphics board and it didn't even break a sweat. Laughing

*Even kind of like the new way of handling wishes and work promotions.

Guess I got too spoiled with everything we have available to us in just TS3's base game to be happy with this. Seems to be more of a TS2 Refresh than a new game.

Needless to say. I get to try out the "Great Game Guarantee" Cause EA gonna get this one back. Whistle

I bought a hard copy so have it. There are some things I like and some I hate. I really DO not like how we have to build. I like the sims but this game is going way backwards in so many ways, as you say.

So, hope we see you back here with some new things for 3. Smile

I'm gonna give it a full week of gameplay.  That's 10 bucks a day for entertainment, I need to cut a few calories anyway, Wink

What I Liked so far:
No stomping/tapping feet.  Sims will shimmie around each other not wasting an hour of game time foot tapping.

Multitasking

Chatting in groups.  Not having to end one conversation to greet a new sim

Foundations. Raise and lower to any height.

Move the whole house, or a room of the house around your lot.

What I didn't like:
Loading screens.  I thought EA said in one of their many promotional video's there would only be loading screens between the different areas of the map.  There is a loading screen for each lot you go to regardless of what area it's in.

The animated walk styles.  they need sliders for them to make them less pronounced.

The graphics a little too cartoony for me.

Cannot Edit Town.  This is a biggy for me.  I can't edit public lots, or so it seems, add my own.

Umm, oh ya, and loading screens. Suspect

I have a love/hate relationship with it. If I had not gotten a hard copy would have a hard time to decide if to keep it or not. The worlds are WAY too friggin' small. We need more asap. And being so limited in choices for buy and build and no CASt is driving me nuts. You can tell this was made for the 12s in a lot of ways.

I am thinking of nuking the 4 community lots. My sims never go to the gym or library or museum. Would rather have 3 nightspots and maybe a fake shop with the cupcake machine. Still have not even looked for that. And I am not sure where EA had the tiki bar unless it was somewhere before one of those lots was built.

Alrighty, I was able to edit the town, and public buildings, but just at the beginning of play. after that if I type M for map mod, it only lets me click on a location to travel to

Hmmm, I always use the map icon and think I can go there anytime. Let me check. I am redoing the gym now.

Haven't been able to play much but already find it hard for me to get around in a 'scene' with having to use the mouse instead of edge scrolling. Finding my Sim a bit too independent. Wanted her to meet some other Sims but I guess she liked where she was and wouldn't budge.
Having no CASt is horrid.
I am looking forward to my Sim exploring some more.

My Sim is always tense and almost always in the red, and I cannot cheat and drag the needs like we can in 3. Sad

I didn't like the emotions. My Sim came home from work with a promotion and 'happy'. After using the toilet and while in the shower she was suddenly 'tense' for no reason. She left the bar 'very happy' and when she got home she was 'angry'. The emotions don't make any sense.

I also don't like them doing what they want. I was trying to get her to play video games to help her job, but she kept getting the 'watch sports' command. I had to cancel it about 5 times.

I've returned the game too.

I like it in some ways that they are expressive but feel I am on a nonstop circle with managing them. I think I will be cheating a lot to maintain my sanity.

I'm starting to think that I am the only person who likes this game. After the first half hour of trying to figure out the basics, I started to play a sim. I accidentally deleted that save but I started a new game and I am playing not just building. I still have a lot of things to figure out, but for me that is fun.

Thank you for the honest feedback. It seems like there are polarizing views on Sims 4. If the bugs were ironed out asap would you have stuck with the game?

The negative reviews are pouring in on Metacritic (which I don't take very seriously) and Amazon (2 stars out of 85 reviews). On top of that two professional reviews have called the game terrible. I want the game but I don't want buyer's remorse.  pale

p.s. I don't want to buy from Origin. I got gift cards for Target to knock down the price.

Didn't run in to any true bugs that I'm aware of.  Some of the new things I could have gotten used to. Like having a sim actually DO something to earn they're happy points.  My BIGGEST problems with the title are

1) Loading screens.  Come on..  Our sims running systems can handle entire towns with 100+ sims all being tracked at the same time.  My sim should at LEAST be able to venture about his own subdivision and visit the neighbors. (Game does play smooth BUT They cut back the openness way too much.)

2) New work bit is kind of silly.  Alex was 45min late to work one day and STILL got his promotion. Just cause he had a grilled cheese for lunch?

3) So many things from CASt to the simple ability to have a pool/pond or change the elevation on the home lot are just GONE!  These are basic things we got with earlier TS titles out of the box.

4) Having to achieve certain goals to unlock furnishings?  Again COME ON! this is a simulation NOT an FPS.  Only thing that should keep our sims from owning something in the catalog is the lack of funds to buy it.

I am getting more used to it. But some of things just were not planned well.  But for a base game overall I like it.  As I see more and more of the world I see that it is really nice.

First day of play:

Things I like:

The graphics are beautiful. I was especially impressed with the water.
I love the new emotion system.
I love the dating system. There are goals to give the date some direction.
I do like how both jobs and school work have additional goals at home to improve performance.
I like the skills I have discovered so far.
I enjoy how my Sims interact and the ability to multitask
I love the hidden lots.

Things I am disappointed with:

There is not enough clothing or items.
I could not see a way to recolor or add in my own textures.
I do not like how the world is not totally open. You have to load between areas. The world feels small and closed in.
I do not like how my Sim chooses a job and she just disappears off to work. Not even a rabbit hole that she travels to first. The same when my child goes to school.
No pools or ways to swim in bodies of water.
Nothing to collect on the ground that I have seen. Finally figured this out Smile
Can only fish in certain predetermined areas
No water or terrain tools for my lot.
No toddlers Sad

Second day of play:

Today's play session has been better. I still think the game is missing too much but I am enjoying some of the new things I have found. I discovered a hidden lot which was fun to explore. The idea of hidden lots is appealing. I am still finding the world too small and limiting. I do hope that eventually we can make our own worlds. There does not seem to be a way to add lots either so customizing the current worlds is limited as well.

My Sims are progressing well and I do like their interactions with each other. The birth of my first child was similar to Sims 3 in that you go into labor and then the baby appears. However I do not like that the baby just sits in the bassinet with limited interactions. I do like that Mom can breastfeed the infant but I think the infant span is too short.

Little Kyle skipped being a toddler which annoyed me to no end but he has been fun as a child so far. I do miss seeing an actual school in the world. Kyle just disappears when its time for school. No school bus or rabbit hole school to attend. I do however like the goals that are associated with getting good grades. There is more to do then just the homework.

Another gripe is how hard it is to tell how old a Sim you just met is. Rheassi ended up marrying an elder and she has had to plead with the Reaper twice now to keep him alive. I also miss graveyards.

As for careers.. Rheassi is following the Culinary career and Saul is an Agent. Each gives you goals to do at home as well as going to work each day and you get rewards in your inventory when you reach certain skill levels so that makes it interesting.

Overall I am pleased with what is included but displeased with it in general. I hope they get on additional content quickly. The game really needs to be fleshed out more but there is enough to keep me busy for now. I had debated returning it but have decided that I like what is included enough to keep it and hope more content comes soon.

Quite glad I chose not to get this yet, based on what I'm seeing and reading. Sounds like they took some major steps backward...Seems like they went more Sims 2 ish then Sims 3 ish.

I was able to do some building last night.  It still feels limited, but I'm not sure if it's my learning curve, or the limitations of the game.  Once the modders sort through all the game data, things will get better.  I have a hard time playing the sims 3 without mods, so I can't expect the sims 4 to be any different.

I like it, too! I'm still learning my way around the world, and I figure the more extreme things will get patched up at some point. I'm totally not returning this.

I found the CUTEST mid-century modern house on the Gallery!

I've played off and on this afternoon and I must say I am pleasantly surprise. I am just playing. Not building. Not spending any time in CAS. Just following my sims whims and satisfactions. I find the animations wonderful and very realistic. The emotions are fun. There are many new and interesting things in the game. For instance, fossils that can be dug up and my sim found a time capsule that contained a statue that gives off a "playful" decor. Going off lot to a job doesn't bother me at all, I never followed my sim to the rabbit hole to begin with in Sims 3. You can tick on the your sims picture when they're at work and choose things to do, "get to know co workers, etc" . I am really enjoying myself!
