Well, I just spent a buck at Target to order the limited edition even though the cheapskate side of me tells me to wait for a sale.  Rolling Eyes

Will get a 5 dollar gift card and will get my red card discount. Still way too pricey for what we are getting IMO, but I know I will want it when everyone starts playing, so went ahead.

I am looking forward to it too. I hope we are not disappointed. I am going to have to remember to think of it on it's own and not compare it to what we have now.

Exactly daisy, I am going into this with an open mind. I'll try to think of it as a unique game, not a continuation of Sims 3. I am sure I will be going back in forth between all my Sims versions (2,3,and 4) and playing them all.

I must admit I'm a bit fedup with TS4 info now, I like what I'm doing at the moment. I don't know what I will be able to do in the new game like videos and pictures and so on. I don't feel up to the learning curve at the moment.

I am not happy about a lot also, but decided there was enough that interested me that I would go ahead. Curiosity got the better of me and I always like trying something new.

Most long running games build on each edition, they don't expect the fans to start over from square one each time. I can see they spent some time on the CAS Demo at least, creating sims is easier than ever. That much I'll give them

At first, Sims 2 felt limited (no pets, and the sims were so ugly). The improvement in graphics, the new life stages, and the development of Custom Content finally won me over. Sims 3 felt a little limiting too when I started, I missed pets and weather, but the open world, the flexibility of creating sims pulled me in pretty quickly.

Now, I'm here at the end of Sims 3, and I still dabble in Sims 1 and 2. I also have a sizable investment in EPs, SPs and Store content. I'm not feeling the pull yet. The Sims 4 CAS is great, but it doesn't do anything I can't do in the Sims 3 CAS with extended sliders, though granted, it is more work in Sims 3.

I can't imagine not having an open world anymore, it feels like a huge step backwards. Removing life stages is also a step backwards. The worst though, was to take out swimming. That has been in the base game since Sims 1. We'll see if the game play makes up for what they've cut. My plan is to watch all of you play it and if I get jealous, I'll fork over the money for it.

As I said once before, I wish we could drop these sims in 3. That would be perfect.  Celebrate  But we can't.  Sad

I keep thinking about all sorts of stuff, like will we be able to change their names with no city hall? So much will be different. I am sure I will be very irritated at times about things that I cannot do, but hope there is enough I like to be worth it.

All valid points. I am going to take a leap here and say not all good things have been eliminated they are just different.
It seems it could be easier to do things like shopping for books and groceries. I get the impression that the Sims will have another upgraded version of a Smart Phone. Besides the usual functions I am hoping it will also have options to register for careers and change names etc. Just a hunch ..... only a few more days to find out.

Good to see you again, Noeddehaven. My computer was out of commission for a few weeks and I had some trouble finding this site again too.

I would be more excited about the new game if there was a hint of those things we like so much in the future.

When I tried playing TS2 and tried to build I found it very difficult without the ability to tilt for one thing. I thought I must be quite spoiled. I know I will always miss CASt but maybe they will have an outside program at some point. Outside the game that is, like CAP.

If you are not afraid of Mods it looks like there will be other options for CASt.
A vanilla straight out of box will be my first choice. There are a lot of very talented Mod creators but the game does not always like Mods.

I think it is going to be just like 2 again, that we will be downloading zillions of recolors. Well, at least that is what I did in 2. And then there will be the new meshes. The thing that interests me the most is about getting a world building tool. I have to have that if I will stick with the game as the EA worlds are just not enough room to play.

One thing I do like is that it uses package files already which is what I use in 3. They are so easy to use to take content in and out of the game, not like the sims3packs and the launcher.

And I think they need to get the toddlers done asap or they will lose a lot of people. I think a lot of folks are giving it a chance assuming that toddlers and pools and so on will follow. I think EA needs to follow through on that or many folks will not stick with it long. It will be very interesting to see what happens. What they patch in. What the first EP is, assuming there is one. We shall see.

Yes I would check out the base game first before indulging in any mods but would love to create my own recolors for my game.

Daisy says ~ "I think it is going to be just like 2 again, that we will be downloading zillions of recolors. Well, at least that is what I did in 2. And then there will be the new meshes. That could very well be and I agree.
The game is going to need the family structure for those who don't want their Sims to party their life away. there were things from TS1 I missed in TS2 and things from TS2 I missed in TS3. I only have Makin' Magic from TS1, which I loved, and no idea what happened to my other EP's. I suspect a kid but no one is admitting anything.

There are mods I will need for sure. Decensor, and others, and someone will need to mod out that white outline.
I had over 150 mods in 2 and have quite a few in 3 including about 8 Nraas ones. Will miss those so will have to see what is done next.

A good example of a pic I love that would have been ruined if the mosaic was there.

Can you bathe toddlers in Sims 3? Or is this a pose?

That was Anise as a little one. 7 generations back from Hallisa and Hannah.

I looked at the plus-minus list on Mod the Sims. Sims4 is a really stripped down version! I think they designed it that way in order to improve the performance. I am going to miss the open world quite a lot, and everything flat? back to Sims1 and 2. Gah! But I did have some cool neighborhoods in Sims2, flat or not. I wonder if we'll be able to create our own neighborhoods and towns eventually.

I've been playing with the CAS tool and it's ok. The faces and such do NOT move as smoothly as the demos, of course. Maybe I need to do the tutorial finally (after making about a dozen Sims already).

And WHY don't they release it BEFORE Labor Day weekend instead of after!

Not sure what version I'll get yet. I'll probably do the download since it's more convenient. I don't think I'll get it right away. Maybe in a few weeks from now.
