So for those of you who have pre-ordered Sims 4, what version are you getting? Limited edition or Deluxe? I'm really having difficulty in justifying the extra money. I think the animal hats will drive me up the wall if they appear everywhere but the Tikki bar looks good fun, but with the difference being half the price of the Limited edition I'm struggling to justify it.

So what are you all doing?

I think I've preordered the deluxe one. The one with the extra content at least.

There's only a $10 price difference here.

I am going to see what Target has on sale then decide if to preorder or not and if so which one.

I thought I read somewhere you could buy a $5.00 pre-order card. The if you have their Target Red Card thing you got an extra % off when you pick it up.

You need two more choices:

Not going to buy it

Waiting to see

Personally, I'm going to wait and see. EA didn't see fit to give me a CAS demo, I'll take some time if and when it's available to everyone and wait for other simmers to post their impressions of the game.

I don't have the demo either Clayworld, so you're not on your own!

The download from origin is £59.99 for the deluxe or £49.99 for limited edition but if I go for the DVD copy from Amazon it's £38.00 for the Limited edition and £69.99 for the Premium. Now I'm confused!

I still am not 100% sure I want to spend simoleans to go backwards, but probably will end up getting it so might as well get it on sale. Supposedly Target will have it at 30% off and then there is the red card discount. Shall check it out I am sure.

I'm trying to convince myself I don't need it. I don't know if I'm that successful really. If I'm buying it I'm thinking about the version with the creator guide thing. I don't need the extra content.

All my spare money right now is going toward my new computer, so Sims 4 is on the back burner. When I have the money for it, then I'll decide which version I'm going to get.

I am still undecided on which version I am getting. I'm not really interested any physical stuff, unless it's some type of guide.  scratch

I was going to download it but I believe you can only download it 5 times. I now that sounds a daft worry but both my daughters play it as well so that's three downloads, one daughter could do with an upgraded laptop so that would be a fourth download, only leaving one for the rest of the life of Sims4, so I think it might be a physical copy for us again.

Why only 5 times? I had to do more uninstalls/re-installs of the Sims 3 just because they borked it with a patch.

I can't find where I read that now but have now found this instead from the forums on Carl's sims Guide

"I spoke to EA on the phone yesterday. I recieved an email about the call later and I will quote from it.

Quote
Thank you for contacting EA Support regarding The Sims. During the call I was more then happy to look into your question. It is possible to install the digital download of the game on any number of computers as long as they have the Origins program on it and that you login and install from there.

So there are no limits on the Digital Download. During the call I was informed that there is a 5 authorised installs limit on the DVD version."

This completely contradicts what I read somewhere else.

They also say in some places that you can download as many times as you like but can only have five authorised computers using it. You have to de-authorise computers through Origin.

I'm sorry, I don't really know what I'm talking about here just repeating what I've seen and confusing myself all the more in the process!

I can see why you would be confused. I vaguely recall back in 2009 when Sims 3 came out. There was something about a limit. I think it was a limit to the number of computers to be authorized to install the game via the disc.
That was to keep people from 'lending' their discs out to multiple persons and having them use the game without buying it.
There is an option on the launcher to "De-authorize this machine" which would free up one licensed spot to be able to authorize say a replacement computer. All this seems to have changed since Origin came into play.

This must be politics, they hope to stop people from using DVD's that are easier to hack and pass from one person to the other. I know there are limits on both DVD's and download on TS3. They could have changed their mind, after all they did plan on making it online only first.

Can I buy the DVD and still download from Origin? I like to have my physical copy, internet issues can be so frustrating sometimes.

It's the same with my copies of Adobe photoshop CS5, I can only download on a few machines at the same time. It can be a hassle to remember to uninstall before putting away for storage a computer when you buy a new one.

As long as you register your DVD version you can DL from Origin.

I'm confused why there is no Collector's/Premium Edition option. That's the version I've got my eye on.

I'm in it for the digital soundtrack and maybe the hats. After receiving the demo today I'm even more excited for The Sims 4. The removed features are a big blow to the game, sure. It doesn't mean it's the end of the world.

Regarding the one-time online activation, I'm still unsure if that means I can or can't lend a friend my disc after I'm done installing the game.

Thru Origin ... No but Amazon - The Sims 4 Premium Edition has it for $79.99 physical copy.

Uncertain on this point but I am wondering how dependent the game will be on an Origins /online connection. The whole Gallery thing is still undefined. There seems to be a big dance around how it really works for those playing off-line.

I bet it's mostly for teens, but perhaps something useful for me as well. It's a bit pricey though ...

Wink Teens and Collectors. I have the hard copy from The Sims 3 base game release.
It is tucked away in a storage crate somewhere. Just kind of a cool thing to own.
I saved $10.00 by not getting the Collector's Edition. Now if I could have gotten the cool PlumBob things it might have been a harder decision.

I am going to check Best Buy as there is a promo and see what they have. The Target promo was totally useless. I am leaning toward the Limited one so far. Shall see.

ok thanks ... perhaps I should do an effort staying off then? I don't wanna be a collector  Shocked  There's just lots of things there's no point in buying.

I'm going to stay at home buying this. Shipment cost and time. Platekompaniet sends it out so I'm lucky I might have it a day before the shop buyers.
