Sims 2 FAQ - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Sims 2 FAQ   Sims 2 FAQ - Page 2 EmptyMon Jul 28, 2014 8:35 am

Thanks for the link LadyGee, I was reading further down and it talks about "Body Shop". It says the UC comes with it and how to make a shortcut to be able to use it

Quote :
Question: Does UC come with Bodyshop?
Answer: Yes, but you have to make your own shortcut.
UC includes Bodyshop, but it doesn't make any Start menu or desktop shortcuts for it. To make a shortcut:
Go to C:/Program Files (x86)/Origin Games/The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection/Fun with Pets/SP9/CSBin
Right-click on TS2Bodyshop.exe and click Create Shortcut.
Drag the shortcut to your desktop, or wherever you want it, and rename it if you like.

I also found this @ The Sims Wiki

Quote :
Body Shop is a tool that came with The Sims 2 for creating custom content for Sims as well as entire Sims, then packaging and uploading them to The Sims 2 Exchange or placing them into the game through Create a Sim. It allows users to access hidden content within the game files and enable it for use in Create a Sim, or create their own content within the game files and enable that. It is formally known as 'CaSIE' (Create-A-Sim Independent Editor).
Each expansion pack and stuff pack has its own version of Body Shop, so a player with several Packs will have several versions, each with its own shortcut. Players should use the version which came with the most recent Stuff Pack or Expansion Pack they own.

and this:
How to use Body Shop @ MTS

Good moring all,

MW I read your post telling how to find the folder your snapshots are in.  My question is does Sims 2 UC come with pre-made snapshots?  Looking at each folder individually, there are snapshots dating back to 2004   scratch

Storytelling - 188

E001 - 134

F001 - 81

G001 - 83

I've looked in neighborhoods 1-3 and there is no storytelling folder, should there be?  Neighborhood 4, was that one you created, because I don't have N004.   I'm totally  confused  Where did all these snapshots come from?

I am using windows 8.1, would that make a difference?

Yes LadyGee. All the photos that you see are the ones that are used in the neighbourhood stories that Maxis originally wrote for each new neighbourhood as they came out. Therefore, the dates can be as early as 2004 up to 2008 when Apartment Life was released.

I can't seem to get it to work anyway. Ugh! Securom again? Oh well, maybe I'll just uninstall the whole thing.

What is your problem Clay?

I thought mine didn't work either at first. You need to make sure you change the comparability to Windows XP Service Pack 2 and run as administrator. The next step is easy. Go wash some dishes or go to the bathroom or dust something. Just leave it to run for a couple of minutes and it will open.

Here is the error message:

Sims 2 FAQ - Page 2 Sims2error_zpsa5ea2285

I'm running Windows 8.1. I don't think I ever registered my Sims 2 games with Origin, but I did at the now defunct Sims 2 site. I bought all expansions and most SPs, but have not installed them on this computer.

I got that message after I had used CCCleaner. I uninstalled and re-installed and it worked fine as stated above..

Sims 2 FAQ - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Sims 2 FAQ   Sims 2 FAQ - Page 2 EmptyTue Jul 29, 2014 10:00 am

I'll have to try that. I use CC Cleaner almost every day. Now, I have to decide if I want to risk the securom or not. It did quite a number on my old machine back in the day...

ETA: Decided to go for it. I bought a few stuff packs through Origin so Securom is already on my machine. Also, a brand new computer will be easy to reset to factory settings if needed. Wish me luck!

ETAA: OK, it's working. How the heck do I add Custom Content. I've totally forgotten everything.

ETAAA: It's so easy, just create a downloads folder, link: HERE The sims are so freaking ugly! Gotta get some new defaults in.

ETAAAA: Got defaults in. I was quite a sims creator back in the Sims 2 heyday, but it's rather cumbersome now. I really miss different body types. They do exist and I used them extensively before, but Sims 3 has me spoiled now. I'll probably play Strangetown for a bit, and post about it. It's not going to be about creating sims and fantasy worlds now. I'll keep that in Sims 3.

ETAAAAA: I'd like to use Body Shop Mechanic. I used it back in the day to make bodyshop better, but I'm having trouble with the Origin version.

I just added this questions to the list.

  • How do you take a vacation day from work? If your Sim has vacation days, keep your Sim home from work and about an hour before quitting time they will get paid. One vacation day will be deducted from their total.

PostSubject: Re: Sims 2 FAQ   Sims 2 FAQ - Page 2 EmptyFri Aug 01, 2014 7:31 pm

Any idea what is causing this?

Sims 2 FAQ - Page 2 Snapshot_ed7b3373_40e43fd8_zpsc8260f23

There's a black rectangle below all of my sims indoors. No doubt, it's some kind of CC I've added.

Also, I distinctly remember using print screen to take pictures within the game, but that doesn't seem to work anymore, I just get a shot of my desktop.

I love the little video scenes when something happens in the game. Quite charming actually.

SimsVIP has an answer to that.

Thanks for the quick replies, I did solve the problem. I had to select a lot first, then change the shadow options. I couldn't do it from the main menu screen, it was greyed out.

You need a separate program to capture images from the game with print screen. I'm trying Fraps. It works, but you can only save as a bmp in the free version. Of course you can change that in an image editing program, but it's a pain. That's one thing they really improved in Sims 3.

I use the Snipping tool for screen images but that would only work for Windows mode.

I use the method shown here for screenshots. If I want to show the UI then I have to change to window mode and then I use the snipping tool.

Hi Le, I asked the same thing. You need to change the shortcut on your desktop (this is for The Ultimate Collection) Be sure to click Apply after following the instructions.
