PostSubject: Running Sims 3 From an External Drive   Sun Jul 20, 2014 12:46 pm

Does anyone do this? We attached our old computer to our 60" TV. I thought I would uninstall the Sims 3, but playing giant sims is too much fun. The hard drive is nearly full and being able to run Sims 3 from an external hard drive would really help. I could upgrade the hard drive, but that would be much more work.

I know from other that it can be installed on an additional internal drive. I will check around and see what I can find out.

I put mine on my second hard drive? You just click on second hard drive then click to run the game... I refused to put it on my main one now that it is a SSD drive...

But I'm not sure about an "external" I'm guessing it should work the same? I just have a short cut on my desktop

I installed all my games on the D partition of my lap top, except Pets which is a digital download copy, and I didn't know how to put it onto the D drive. I have since figured it out. The shortcuts came up on the desk top when I installed and I just hit that to start the game.

I can't see why using an external drive would work any differently.

I then hooked the laptop to the TV with an HDMI cable, grab a wireless keyboard and mouse and play with life size sims.

Just keep in mind that you shouldn't leave the TV screen static for any length of time it can cause burn in, so if you have to pause for any reason, turn off the TV until you can get back to it.

I'll have a café, mocha, vodka, valium latte to go please!
