I know we have just a demo now and probably more will be included, but I am starting to see that it is new and shiny but for me in some ways is much more limited than 3. I am finding that a lot of the adjustments that we could do with sliders in 3 just are not there in 4, or at least I have not figured them out so far.

I have tried to make a pug nose for example and gotten pretty much nowhere. I cannot see that we can adjust nose mass, the nostril sizes, etc., etc., etc. that we could in 3. I cannot do a plump cheek. I cannot do a lot.

And I am finding that many of the manipulations have a very small range to them. I am finding that there were sims made in 3 that I don't think we can make in 4. Maybe it is supposed to be that way, but is the new CAS supposed to be better or just different?

The more I use it the more I am seeing the limitations.

That's really interesting to hear DL. Everyone seems to be raving about CAS (from what I've read, anyway), that I've assumed that the pushy-pull and 'capability for diverse racial looks' was going to vastly improve things, but from what you've said combined with no CAST, and no rabbit holes, I don't think I'll be buying it even when it comes out for mac.

There are a lot of things I like about it, but as I get into it more and want to create sims more from scratch and not use their starting points I am having a hard time getting what I want. Wait to hear from more folks than me on this, and I am still learning, but so far I am not finding it that easy to use. The grab points IMO seem to be programmed for very specific parameters and are seeming to be rather limited to me. Whereas in 3 we had how many sliders for the nose alone, for example?

I will be curious to see what you all think. I have not read the posts at the official forums as the thread is just too darn long, but wonder if others are thinking the same thing.

I've messed around with it a little. I have found that to move features around on the face, like the width of eyes or height of nose you have to be out of the "detail" mode. In the detailed mode, I was able to move the nostrils up and down, make them larger. I agree that there does seem to be a set limit on how far you can move things around. At least, that is what I think so far. I am hoping to have more time to really use the sliders soon.

I agree with you daisy, it seems one has to pick the right preset first to get where one wants.
And some things I simply can't find either. the nostril size is one of them, another crucial I'm missing is the chin throat connection, we used to be able to make it softer (although that option came late in Sims3 too)

Maybe I just haven't found some features yet.
I hope for EA to improve CAS with time, as they did in Sims3.

I am glad it is not just me. I saw a sim with a bit of a double chin and tried to do it and sure could not. And so far everyone has pretty hollow cheeks.

I just managed a pug nose but the only way I could do it was to start with one of their noses. I could not modify another one to get the same look.

There are some good features. I was working on restyling a Sim in Sims 3 and had to sift thru an entire category to find the items I wanted. In Sims 4 I can for example sort using sandals vs boots in shoes or skirts vs pants in clothing. While the crafting of the physical features is a bit more challenging dressing them is quicker.
The limited colors and patterns is frustrating but so is shopping in everyday life.

That's true EQ, the sorting is a huge improvement. It's nice also that you can tick on the "X" on the little circle for the category and remove all the items. For example, hitting the "X" on the accessories circle will remove all items without having to sort through the category and tick each item. Very nice.  thumbs up

I like the sorting feature too. I don't miss the colour wheel and recolouring the clothes. It always took forever for me to dress a Sim. It is much quicker now. I don't think I will miss it in building either. In Sims 3 the mouse flies all over the screen when I am trying to drag a selection from one item to another. Very frustrating.

I'll miss CASt cause I loved the recoloring. Don't know about the building until I try it for awhile. Tried some remodeling in TS2 and wondered how I ever did it! No tilt angle.
Haven't had time to play with the Demo again but hope to soon.
