Crinrict has posted a tutorial on how to remove custom content from a .sim file. You can find it Here.

Thanks for the info, BG!  Super handy, since a lot of people are publishing their sims as .sim (outside of the exchange that is) and there hasn't been a custard-esque method of checking them (not that I was aware of!)  Now I feel a bit better about getting other people's simmies.

Special Case 0×00000000
There is a resource of  type 0×00000000 which seems to be either a creeping ivy or a multi piercing. This will not show up in CAS but you will get a folder icon on the non-beard option similar to what the Arezzo Counter does (Arrezzo shows a Store icon)

I just recently noticed this exact problem cropping up in my game.  I haven't dl'ed any sims, but I wonder if it is attached to some other CC I've dl'ed... Will have to go see if I can track down the culprit!

EDIT: Dug through my cc (thankfully just merged it all into groups, so I didn't have to go file to file) and discovered an UNKN tag hiding in my hair. (And fortunately I was able to deduce WHICH hair it was) Now, I know crinrict said to look at the hex for "dbpf", not "png". In mine it was a "png". So I backed it up and deleted the errant UNKN resource anyway. Go in game... BADDA-BING! Mystery icon on my non-beard option gone. No idea how to contact crin to let him/her (??) know.. but there you go. Basically in my case, it was a thumbnail that someone had set the wrong option on.

Awesome! I am so glad it was helpful for you  applause

You could register and leave a comment in the guestbook if you really wanted to let crinrict know. Go to About at the top of the page and there is an email or guestbook option.

Hmmmmmmm...that's odd. I guess use the email option, if you want.

I think I'll just not use 3rd party CC. That's way too complicated for me to have to follow.
