PostSubject: Question - Which Death is This?   Fri Jul 12, 2013 1:24 am

I sent a vamp out to a new island the family has. He got hot, caught fire, did not have enough sense to go in the water on his own LOL, and died. So, is this a vampire sun death, fire, or spontaneous combustion? Can you tell from his ghost?

Does this help?  From The Sims Wiki

As in The Sims 2, ghosts have different colors depending on how the Sim died, but their appearance is rather different. They have blank eyes, which is their most notable feature. Different ghosts may behave a little differently depending on their traits when they were alive and how they died.

◾Old age: A Sim who died of old age appears grey with cloudy skin and sparkles. These ghosts occasionally nap in empty beds or complain that they're tired and bored.

◾Drowning: A Sim who dies by drowning appears blue with rippling skin and dripping water (does not create puddles of water like they did in The Sims 2). They will avoid water and often complain of exhaustion.

◾Electrocution: A Sim who dies by electrocution appears yellow with electrical sparking skin and sometimes emit blue electric sparks.

◾Fire: A Sim who dies by fire appears orange with fiery skin and smoke. Sims can die like this in many various ways, like spontaneous combustion, inventing failure, or meteor impact. The ghost occasionally takes showers and baths. When the ghost is in a pool,it turns invisable.

◾Starvation: A Sim who dies by starvation appears pink with cloudy skin and doesn't make ghostly noises (only if they move). The ghost will eat any food left lying around, or prepare food for themselves. They will always be thin, no matter how fat they were when they were alive.

◾Mummy's curse[TS3:WA]: A Sim who dies by mummy's curse appears gold with cloudy skin and emits black haze. These ghosts only make ghostly noises if they move. Prior to Late Night and its subsequent patch, the ghost was dark grey or black.

◾Meteor[TS3:A]: A Sim who dies by getting crushed by a giant meteor appears dark orange with fiery skin.

◾Thirst[TS3:LN]: A Vampire Sim that dies of thirst appears dark crimson with rippling skin, occasionally emitting a pulsing red light from their heart. The pulsating light is also accompanied by a heartbeat. They are also skinny, like the ghosts of Sims who died from starvation.

◾Watery grave[TS3:ST]: Unskilled Magicians who fail to execute the Watery Grave trick with the Box of Danger have a chance of dying. The ghost is dark blue, but prior to patch 1.50, the Watery grave ghost was same color as that of a Sim who drowned.

◾Buried alive[TS3:ST]: Unskilled Magicians who fail to execute the Buried Alive trick with the Box of Danger have a chance of dying. The ghost appears invisible with hints of black.

◾Jelly bean[TS3:SN]: The ghost is in dark purple with hair and outlines of a body in the color of electric blue.

◾Haunting curse[TS3:SN]: The ghost is dark green with hair and outlines of a body in the colour of dark neon green. Sprites of skulls, tombstones and crescent moons may surround the ghost.

◾Transmutation[TS3:SN]: The ghost is in bright gold and emits gold stars and sparkles when moving.

◾Freezing[TS3:S]: Sims who freeze to death will appear light blue and will often complain that they are too cold

◾Blunt force trauma[TS3:UL]: Sims who are killed from a vending machine or murphy bed will appear magenta with feathers floating around them.

◾Ranting[TS3:UL]: Sims who die from protesting will appear green with some symbols that usually appear when shouting.

◾Shark attack[TS3:IP]: Sims who die from shark attack will appear purple with water flowing in their body.

◾Dehydration[TS3:IP]: Mermaids who die from dehydration will appear golden yellow.

◾Running out of Air[TS3:IP]: Sims who die from running out of air will appear dark turquoise.

Thanks for posting the list. Smile

I need to find the pics of Edith in the tale with the fires. I think those ghosts were more orange but I may be wrong. What is the color for spontaneous combustion?  And do vamps just die of fire or spontaneous combustion if too much sun?

OK, here is one of the pics of Edith and whatshisname who died in the fire. He is definitely more orange, but one was a vamp and one not, and I do not know if that makes any difference?

As you can tell you've got me intrigued on this one.  Just watched this video and that would make your ghost a death by Meteor, which doesn't make any sense at all!

That is very interesting. Thanks for posting the list Httddy.

Did you decide it was death by fire, daisylee?

All those ghosts. There's a challenge in there somewhere.

I just watched that video too! I am thinking it is a fire death but it just looks different as he was a vampire? And I guess spontaneous combustion is just a way to have a fire death.

I am trying to mark on my excel when there are the different deaths in the family history. I probably should have had him have a vampire thirst death, but cannot imagine how you can do that unless fence off somewhere with no fridge and hope the sim dies of that before something else.

Oh my, this reminds me of too many fenced sims in 2 doing a little "experimenting"!    afraid 2

I had a vampire thirst death, but it was completely by accident. I didn't realise he could die of it and just wanted him to finish what he was doing first. Next thing I know Grim is at the door!

I may try that. Have the sim do whatever and see if she/he does not stop. I just finally had a sim lose a shark fight after about 10 fights, but took his needs down to nothing in the fight to have that happen.

Laughing  He'll have to wear his diving gear forever. Does he leave the water or just haunt on the lot where he dies?

Bellis, his wife just died there. I was going to try to cut off her air so she would die and hope would be near his grave. All of the sudden she died of old age down there. The game put her stone right by his which I think is cool. Grim stayed down there a long time.  I have had sims down there diving quite a few times since he died and have never seen his ghost. I  will let you know if I see either of them in the future.

Wow. They both died under water! Talk about a watery grave.

And once the stones are there, they are there. My sim could not pick it up. It may be possible with cheats, but I like them there and will leave them as is.

Well that is a cool thing. I'd be tempted to put a fence around them, the graves.

Oh, my! I was playing a sim at the resort and the camera went to the house, and my mermaid had died! I have no idea why. Per above, it was dehydration. This is a bit ridiculous as we were told when this game came out that these sims would take care of themselves, and they sure do not. Why in the heck did she not just take a shower? I have sims go totally in the red when I do not play them. And she did not do that at all, then just died.

Though I have not have one die ... yet ... I noticed the same with PlantSims. They will also not autonomously take a shower when dehydrated. Grrr...

This is an improvement that is needed with 4. Sims should be able to take care of themselves. And they should quit throwing a frisbie or whatever before almost dead. I also have had toddlers totally in the red when at home with a sitter.

Not good.

I debated about not saving but she was a sim that would not make her LTW I am sure, so let her go. Sad

I had the death of a merman from dehydration. He was one of Mike's co-workers and was passed out in front of the building. I was just going to send Mike to re-hydrate him when this happened.

So the ghost is yellow.

BooHoo Seeda expired from hunger.  Silly me trying to do the eat the 12 herbs and 5 bean kept sliding the hunger bar back to keep her from getting stuffed and   Embarassed  slid it to far.  Luckily I had saved just before that.

Even though she tried to profess her love for him he still did what he came to do.

Good information! So, these sims do not take days to die of hunger as they did in 2 as I recall. That is good to know. I am glad you had a recent save.
