PostSubject: Carl's Baby Boomer Challenge   Sun Mar 03, 2013 3:28 am

I'm sure you've probably seen the challenges set over on Carl's sims guide. I decided to have a go at the Baby Boomer Challenge that he set. They ask that you don't post your challenge until after the clossing deadline so that nobody can pick up hints and tips from anybody else but the closing date is today so I think it's safe to post. (and I really don't think anybody would gain anything from me anyway!)

SO this is the challenge(copy and pasted from .Carl's sims guide where you can find scoring details and the general challenge rules - such as playing on long life span)

Baby Boomer IV: Family Tree Explosion

Goal
After a year’s hiatus, one of the most popular challenges is back for 2013. Start with 2 Married Young Adult Sims and try and have as many children as possible before the mom reaches Elder stage.

General Challenge Rules
The General Challenge Rules always apply. If applicable, exceptions will be noted below.

Specific Challenge Rules

Create 2 Married Young Adult Sims.
The mom's life state for the entire challenge must be either Human, Ghost, or Witch. The dad's life state does not matter.
Your starting two Sims are the only Sims allowed to Try For Baby.
Your starting two Sims must always live together.
No adoption or clones.
No Time Machine.
Only offspring can be added to the Household.
No vacations.
No babysitters.
No butlers.
No Simbots.
No Bonehilda.
No Simporting.
Mother is not allowed to use a dresser to plan an outfit.
Anything that has a potential to lengthen the mom’s pre-Elder lifespan — makeovers, eating life fruit, mud baths, drinking life fruit drinks, getting a tattoo, eating Ambrosia, Age Freeze LTR — all are banned for the mom.
You are only allowed to cake up with a birthday cake if you attain the life stage goals listed below.
Household members can only move out upon reaching Young Adult stage and completing the YA life stage goals listed below
This challenge concludes when the mother reaches Elder stage.

Baby Stage Goal:
• If a Baby is Best Friends with both parents, then you may cake up the baby.

Toddler Stage Goals:
• If a Toddler learns all 3 Toddler skills (Walking, Talking, Potty Training), plus reaches level 3 in another skill then you may cake up the Toddler.

Child Stage Goals:
• If a Child completes a collecting challenge (the Mushroom collection does NOT count) and reaches level 3 with the oven OR level 3 with the blocks, you may cake up the Child.

Teen Stage Goals:
• If a Teen has a unique Romantic Interest and reaches level 3 in a part-time career you may cake up the Teen.

Young Adult Stage Goals:
• If a Young Adult completes a unique LTW and purchases 1 unique LTR, they can be moved out

SO I thought I would give it a go. Man it's hard but I'm enjoying it!

So, I started with Nikita and Hunter Lutz

Nikita - Flirty, Family Orientated, Natural Cook, Childish, Nuturing
LTW - Surrounded by family
LTR - Fertility Treatment

Hunter - Flirty, Good Sense of Humour, Family Orientated, Charismatc, Ambitious
LTW - CEO of Mega Corporation
LTR - Collection Helper

They imediately bought a plot of land in Appalousa Plains and built a big but empty house!

And set about the challenge Whistle

They went to the festival park to collect as many wild flowers as they could to bankrole a few more furnishings, then it was down to the library for Nikita to read pregnancy books

While Hunter got started on his Charisma skill

Maternity outfit number 1

There's not a lot for a pregnant girl to do at the summer festival apart from eat Snow Cones, and boy did she eat Snow Cones Smile

First born is April - Easily Impressed, Artistic. Here she is being taught to walk by Nikita in her second maternity outfit.

Not long after this Nikita had enough LTH points to buy the fertility treatment. The result was:-

Bess - Disciplined, Athletic

And Brannon - Genius and Athletic

More to come, but I've not taken any pics. Will update soon.

All three children are ..... well just that, children. Successfully aged up using Birthday cake. So we now have:-

April, who gained the trait Genius, has cooking level 3 from the oven and is working towards becoming a renaisance Sim. My plan with her is to have her work on the painting and logic skills while still a child to give her a head start towards her LTW.

Bess, who gained the Brave trait and is heading for Physical Perfection. She will soon be out and about collecting butterfiles. She is level 3 on the blocks

And Brannon, who is a virtuoso and has so far collected 5 out of 10 beetles (with the help fo the Collection Helper that Hunter bought with his LTH points) Currently planning for master of the arts but this might change.

Maternity wear no 3 (All clothing C/O EA - I've not got a dresser in the house). A pregnancy that resulted in Cassidy and Ella - s till babies so pic to come.

Leave Hunter and Nikita alone for two seconds and they start flirting with each other!

She really does have hold of his heart! Laughing

And finally, the table I use to keep track of everything!

Off for more snuggle, play with!

Wow, crazy! So many kids would drive me nuts! I like to read the challenge stories over at Carls, but I don't want to actually do any.

I do like the progressive career challenge, it seems interesting and would force me to use different careers.

Ooh, not seen that one! Don't get me sidetracked Smile , I'm a serial starter and know I'll get sidetracked off this when University arrives. Just hoping to come back to it though. We'll see what happens.

Good luck with this. I did this challenge a couple of years back. It was a lot of fun. Blondie and Dagwood now reside in Gold Coast working on another family.

MW - sounds a great idea, but if I stick to the official rules I can't use any premium content that gives an advantage so they would both be out (Also I spent my money on pre-ordering University so there's none left in the Sims pot for now Smile )

Managed to play this for a little bit yesterday.

Brannon (no 3 child) aged up with birthday cake as he completed the bug collecting challenge. He is currently employed in the Grocery Store (level 1) and is working towards a LTW of Master of the Arts (currently Guitar 5, painting 0). He is genius, athletic, virtuoso, artistic. I have no wardrobe so they all come as EA see fit!

April (No 1 child) aged up second by getting to her birthday. She is working towards a LTW of Renaisance sim (currently Logic 4, Painting 9, cooking 3). She is easily impressed, artistic, genius and natural cook.

Ella (No 5 child) has the animal lover trait so has already chossen her LTW of Zoologist. So far she has 3 of the 20 wild pets required.

And just at the end of my session Olivia was born, a friendly genius. So I currently have a full house of 8 sims - 2 adults, 2 teens, 3 children and one baby. (cuddle, play, cuddle, play!)

Full house! Great job... glad you are doing well. The Zoologist is not so bad. I had a child in AP with that wish. There was a turtle spawner in the yard (by EA) and he just kept catching and releasing the same turtle. Plus a few other Brandon pets.

It is strange that children cannot use the Collection Helper.
But I am sure you have figured to have another Sim use the helper to find things.
Wink

You are like me and want to see the kids get the LTW before you send them on their way. I took mine too France, where Dad owned a vacation home, and built up their skills while there. Even found a hubby for one. Don't know if that is allowed in your rules.

I like your idea MW but just checked ther rules - "No Vacations!" Mind you this going to be a long challenge as is, so not sorry not to extend it with vacations.
